Install
Pick the app that fits how you work:
- desktop app for macOS, Windows, and Linux
- web app run by the CLI, which you can install like a phone app (a PWA)
- VS Code extension, also for Cursor, Windsurf, and Trae
- mobile apps for iPhone and Android, in public beta
Desktop
Download the latest build from the download page or GitHub Releases, then open it. Linux builds come as .deb, .rpm, and AppImage.
The desktop app brings its own copy of OpenCode (the AI coding agent OpenChamber runs on), so there is nothing else to install.
Web + PWA
The web app needs OpenCode and Node.js 24.14 or newer on the machine that runs it.
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/openchamber/openchamber/main/scripts/install.sh | bashopenchamber --ui-password be-creative-hereOpen the URL the CLI prints (usually http://localhost:3000). You should see the OpenChamber session list. To keep it handy, use your browser’s “Install” option in the address bar to add it as an app.
VS Code
Install OpenChamber from the VS Code Marketplace. Cursor, Windsurf, and Trae install it from Open VSX. The extension needs OpenCode installed; the OpenChamber view then opens in the sidebar.
Mobile
Install the iPhone app through TestFlight or the Android app from the latest release, then pair it with your computer. Mobile Apps walks through both.
Nix
On NixOS, or any Linux with Nix, the flake in the OpenChamber repository builds the same apps:
nix run github:openchamber/openchamber # web server on http://localhost:3000nix run github:openchamber/openchamber#gui # desktop appThe flake also exposes packages.openchamber and packages.openchamber-desktop, and a nixosModules.openchamber systemd module with host, port, openFirewall and uiPasswordFile. The password file is read through systemd’s LoadCredential, so a root-owned 0400 secret works with the default dynamic user.
Updates go through the flake. The packaged OpenCode CLI has its in-app updater turned off, because a Nix store path cannot update itself, so pull the flake and rebuild to update.
