I own most of the Razer controllers that they've released (pictured are just some that aren't in storage) so I'm what you may call an expert and also bad with money.

Razer controllers prior have all had some issues to put it lightly, or in the case of the Raiju's so much so that the lineup is now effectively dead in favor of the Wolverine. The Wolverine v3 Pro feels like a true culmination of all the past controller issues and questionable design decisions being ironed out.

I will list my own personal highlights compared to previous offerings as I do not see any of the "tech reviewers" mentioning them.

+ Tension on thumb sticks and full pull on triggers nearly identical to stock Xbox, stick tension slightly tighter from what I can tell and it feels amazing compared to how loose the tension on every Razer controllers has been prior

+ Thumbstick material and texture provides actual grip, previous controllers were slip city

+ ACTUALLY GOOD AND ERGONOMIC BACK BUTTONS OH MY GOD HOW I'VE LONGED FOR THIS

+ Face buttons have been changed for the better, sound and feel is still clicky like Razer is known for but much more muted, and in general they've felt less fatiguing to use

+ M1 and M2 switches changed to be same as bumper, previously they were not and had slightly different feeling actuation force needed so if you tested your fingers on the extra buttons you may have accidentally triggered them due to the lesser force needed

+ Actually good trigger stops bravo 👏

+ Wireless that works without issue!!! On a Razer controller no less wow!

+ Good polling rates??? 250hz 2.4 wireless polling rate on Xbox is double than the standard and elite controller offerings from Xbox, finally a pro controller from Razer that actually lives up to the pro name. With up to 1000hz wired on PC Razer has finally caught up to current year and as a result this is their most responsive feeling controller ever.

+ Razer actually priced it fairly for a wireless pro controller, remembered to include a carrying case this time, and included a 10ft cable for wired. Immaculate W

+ Hall effect sticks in a big name pro controller, to see Razer adopt this before Microsoft and Sony absolutely blows my mind, they actually did it. Bravo.

If you play on Xbox and PC it's a no brainer. While they could certainly do more in offering a wider variety of stick options, let alone the means of easily obtaining more which historically they've never done outside of ordering a "replacement set" at absurd prices from their parts store, I'm just in awe that Razer actually knocked it out of the park for once.

Honestly I'm just in shock they actually priced it at $200, I feel like I actually got what I paid for so the finance team must be on vacation or something.

This controller is by far the most accurate I’ve ever used. The precision it offers is incredible, and it’s packed with some excellent features:

Mouse-click triggers and back buttons feel fantastic and are very tactile.

The button customization is outstanding, making it easy to tailor the controller to your needs.

It feels solid and sturdy, with a premium build quality that isn’t flimsy at all.

However, there are a few downsides:

The wireless connection is spotty, and the corded connection feels loose and unreliable at times.

Stick drift occasionally occurs when playing wirelessly, though this issue doesn’t appear in wired mode.

The sticker on the back of the controller wore off after just two months, but I made sure to save the serial number.

A quick tip for anyone using this controller: I recommend turning off the Prevent Double Deadzones setting in the app, as it can interfere with in-game deadzones. I also find that Circular Aiming Mode works best, and setting both stick deadzones to 5 gives me optimal performance.

Final Thoughts:

This is an excellent controller for anyone who values accuracy and customization. However, I’d recommend the wired version, which is about $100 cheaper. Keep in mind that the wired version doesn’t come with interchangeable sticks, but you can easily pick up some Kontrol Freeks with the savings.

Ok, Out of the box I immediately set deadzones to zero. Upon checking found there is an inherent centering issue that causes heavy drift reading with no way to recalibrate.

Pros:

Feel of buttons are great, tactile, responsive, good placement. The “feel” of the controller is one of the bests. The trigger locks to enable a mouse click tactile pull is satisfying to say the least. All these features are great enough for me to over look other features not given at this price range ie - tension adjustment, full button mapping, lackluster app interface, polling rate to name a few.

Major con:

However, having out of box centering issues this high is just kind of a hard one to look over. All HE sticks do have centering performance concerns. I just wish this would center closer to 0,0 (I know it’s impossible to get true 0,0 reading). But no matter what I do, direction I flick it, it re-centers back to these values. I’d have to widen the dead zones, sacrificing a substantial amount responsiveness which defeats the purpose of buying a performance controller. Maybe I’ll try to exchange and hope I get something better, but if it’s worse, it’s a full refund. Will update review if I do. But not to hopeful as more research, this is a more common than a one off situation.

UPDATE: GOT A NEW REPLACEMENT (3.5-3.9 Stars max)

Firmware updater released on PC. But now can be updated on Xbox App however the app sucks. (Edit 2025 new update no longer supports Xbox app firmware update must use pc anpp again..wtf tired of this company) Upon launching app a progress bar starts loading a percentage w/ the message do not unplug. No indication it’s updating. Apparently it did. But while I couldn’t verify if it’s the latest firmware. I already lost confidence in the software(& probably the Razer brand too) and updated through PC anyway. Major gripe about the PC updater: it doesn’t confirm if you already have the latest firmware. It just flashes and installs… is this freeware from github or a hardware gaming company w a $200 controller? Smh

Pros: quality weight and feel, rgb(if you even care for this?), tactile mouse click triggers, a really decent clicky gated d-pad (better than most), a lot of extra decently placed buttons that feel good, adjustable haptic, multiple profile config saves, easy quick instant button mapping. Carrying case.

Cons: app, firmware update required, updated app didn’t include a calibration option, Outdated 2020 Hall Effect tech used in 2024 when newer VRS is more economical, durable, accurate, and energy efficient. No adjustable tension for a $200 price tag. Only two extra plastic thumb sticks, why not just throw in two identical pairs? They’re plastic anyways. You still need a dongle. Face buttons could feel “mushy” to some, And I could be wrong, but I don’t think it’s Bluetooth as they advertise. Size, if only it was a couple centimeters larger it would probably rest perfectly in most hands. It’s not switch pro small but with back paddle placement it can be noticeable.

Biggest con. Razer as a company is incompetent. Do not buy if you do not have a windows pc. Razer is company who creates an Xbox controller with an Xbox app, but does not push firmware updates through the Xbox. You have to download a separate software on a PC then update firmware through there cuz if you don’t, it won’t allow you to use the Xbox app! This is after a year of use, and while hardware is ok, I’ve grown more tired with this company as it’s a controller with inconveniences that start to pile up which is no excuse at this price range. Save your money.

This controller has been amazing. It’s super responsive and comfortable in my hands for a long period of time. The weight isn’t too heavy but it feels sturdy. The software and button mapping is elite. It’s also a really good looking controller and feels like a quality item. It’s definitely a good value for the price! I would buy again if I need to but I have had no issues with it.

Overall controller was wonderful to use, I came from having jsed multiple of the older and newer model of the xbox elite controllers. While this controller is lighter and does not feel as premium as the metal on the elite controllers, the actual feel of usage is more premium, have had no buttons, triggers, bumpers, or joysticks malfunction or develop drift since ive had this controller, and have used it almost everyday. All of the buttons have a wonderful click to them that you might expect with a more expensive controller and the extra joysticks you can swap out hold very well snd do not come loose. The paddles on the back can ONLY be used in place of other buttons on the controller, and do not work as an entirely new input, but they do allow for a more comfortable playstyle all round still. The battery life was equal to that of the elite controller or better, but I did not get to enjoy this for long as this controller connect via a small plastic dongle you plug into a usb slot on your xbox. I had a small accident and the dongle broke like it was a cheap toy, and is unable to be replaced. I have been using this controller wired since that time due to this, and have heard nothing back from Razer support about it despite putting in tickets about it. Still highly recommend the controller but be very careful with the dongle.

After two months of heavy use, I'm comfortable saying this is by far the best xbox controller I've ever owned. The build quality is excellent. The controller is heavy and sturdy and feels great to use. I've had every first party controller and several other brands and this is my favorite and it's not even close. It's expensive but I think worth it.

I've been using one of these controllers for a year. You'll never be able to go back to normal controllers once you've experienced TMR. It's a great controller with a couple of problems. I love the TMR sticks I love the way all the buttons feel mechanical buttons are supreme. The internals hold up very well. Now for the flaws they are as follows. It's got a poor build quality on the outside if you buy razr products you know what I mean. The d-pad is awful it needs to be looser and at the same time still push all the buttons it does not seem to register inputs after a while as well. It feels mostly it would seem due to how mechanically bound the d-pad is. It likes to disconnect around other wireless controllers as well not the stock Xbox one but other wireless controllers like it it will fight with over the signal. Basically all in all if you're here looking for something that's very very good and a definite upgrade over the elite 2 this is it.

So, I got this controller as a recommended alternative to an Xbox Pro II controller. I own 2 of the Xbox Pro II controllers, but after a year, at least one control input started experiencing problems or lost all function entirely. So, my buddy recommended this, saying it was amazing. So, I figured "why not and purchased it. Being the same price as the other two controllers, I expected something special that was going to be backed up by quality as opposed to a name brand. Then, I finally got it, connected it to my computer, and played with it the first time. Immediately, the first thought that came to mind was:

"I paid $200 for this?"

The one thing I noticed when I first used my Xbox Pro II controller was it felt substantial. It felt good, like I was holding a piece of equipment that matched the price. It had comfortable rubber hand grips; smooth buttons made from steel, not cheap plastic; and came with a dedicated charging platform that I could simply set the controler on when I was done if I didn't feel like plugging it in. It was exactly what I'd hoped for from a $200 dollar controller. This one though: full plastic body, plastic buttons, your only option is to plug it in to charge, and it literally feels like it's hollow.

Now, I know that first impressions aren't everything, so how does it compare as far as features? Unfortunately, Xbox wins again. The Xbox Pro II has a wide range of customizability. You can purchase a number of accessories for it: from full keyboards, to custom control sticks, to different back-button paddles. The Wolverine V3, you have none. The Pro II allows you to switch between three different toggleable trigger sensitivies. This one only has two. The Pro II allows you to pre-load and switch between up to three customizable controller profiles with a dedicated button on the controller. You can then switch these three out with an unlimited number of other custom profiles in the Xbox accessories app, which even allows you to customize the led color of the center Xbox logo button between each profile. The Razer Wolverine V3 only has 1 pre-loaded profile that you can switch out with their own similar app. The only thing the Wolverine V3 has that the Pro II doesn't is two additional bumper buttons (I mean, these are nice, I'll give it that).

Now what about performance? Well, the buttons on the Wolverine V3 feel like I'm clicking a mouse each time I use them. The Pro II buttons feel smooth and deliberate, while this one is just clicky. One of the things I didn't know I'd miss from the Pro II until it was gone was my ability to fidget with the paddle back-buttons which had an organic feel. The Wolverine V3 just feels like the plastic buttons on the remote control for my Amazon Fire Stick (the hard kind, not the soft kind). And, I'm going to say it, the responsiveness of the V3 is good until it's not. Seriously, I've had issues where it seems the V3 loses its connection to its wireless usb stick (essentially bad controller lag). I never had anything like this happen with the Xbox Pro II. When it works, the Wolverine V3 works, but even then, it doesn't feel any more or less responsive than the Pro II.

Overall, for the price point, I'm disappointed. It really frustrates me that the Xbox Pro II controller has the issues it does with its buttons ceasing functionality. However, the only thing the Wolverine V3 has made me do is realize just how much better the Pro II is. Even if the buttons stop working, I can always get them repaired. If the V3 never has this same problem, great. However, I cannot honestly recommend this controller at its current price. If it was $100, I would be giving it a glowing review as a cheaper alternative. However, it's not cheaper, it just feels cheaper. Which is why I wouldn't recommend it.

My husband loves this controller. He has big hands (🤣) and finds the size and shape better than the XSX controller and the Elite/Elite 2. The light up Razor above the Xbox button is pretty, my husband likes the feel of the triggers and buttons compared to the Elite and none of the buttons stick. It's expensive but so is the Elite. The Elite seems to have stick drift between 3 to 12 months and we've had to exchang several, all before warranty luckily. If this dies at a year or just after, I'll be livid. Only time will tell but for now my husband loves it.

Este es mi primer control premium o para gamers serios, es una gran opción. El peso del control y la calidad de los materiales hace que se sienta de muy buena calidad, incluso siendo sentir de juguete a los controles de Xbox originales. Me gusta que el LED de la marca es personalizable a varios colores. Al principio es un poco raro que los botones también hagan clic, pero te acabas de acostumbrando. Las palancas se sienten de muy buena precisión y sentir. Y el agarre la textura es muy buena. Yo particularmente no utilizo los botones extra ya que en XBOX siento que no hay mucha necesidad, y podría decir que me estorban un poco los detrás, pero son fáciles de ignorar y me gusta que se puedan mapear en segundos. Me encanta que viene con un estuche y su cargador. Compré este porque estaba harto de comprar controles de Xbox y que a la semanas salieran con Drift. Si bien el control es compatible con Xbox, me hubiera gustado que se pudiera conectar directamente sin necesidad de ponerle un USB al Xbox y por lo mismo no te deja visualizar el nivel de batería en el pantalla pero supongo eso no es culpa de razer, por lo mismo tarda un pelín más en conectar. La vibración también se siente considerablemente mejor. Para ciertos juegos aprecio mucho que los gatillos se puedan bloquear para una pulsación más rápida. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.
