the fact that Slack channel names are so frequently used as identifiers and passed around means that their API desperately needs a way to look up a channel by name. having to paginate through conversations.list to find a channel by name is abysmal. and don’t even get me started on enterprise grid

i tried to hold onto some optimism when most of Ruby Central’s board turned over but at this point i don’t think there’s anything about this organization that is worth saving. irreversibly reporting André to the FBI is just inhumanly shameful and beyond the pale.

I wrote an update on the dispute with Ruby Central over Bundler and RubyGems. I'm sad it's reached this point, especially since Ruby Central's conferences are a big part of what convinced me to join the Ruby community back in the day. andre.arko.net/2026/07/30/rub… https://andre.arko.net/2026/07/30/ruby-centrals-destructive-legacy/

for anyone who isn’t aware of how little gig economy workers actually earn, i just got into a $32.99 Lyft to go to SFO where the driver will only get $9. and AI will only make it worse with surveillance pricing

at some point, you have to accept that the company you keep reflects on your own character. to me, Matz and everyone who remains on the Rails core team are so obviously complicit in DHH remaining platformed and relevant and it’s laughable to suggest otherwise

it’s always hilarious when someone’s a huge fucking asshole to you and then they block you, like thanks for saving me the trouble? lol

made SIX panuozzi for a “Stoney Baloney” potluck in the park today… sourdough pizza crust folded and stuffed with burrata, peaches tossed in chili crisp and red wine vinegar, mortadella, and fresh basil

i don’t usually respond to these kinds of emails, but this one made me so fucking mad that i blacked out and regained consciousness with this in my outbox

why does it seem like almost every “idea” around AI is just “build existing thing except it’s AI” or “build a new agentic harness”? like genuinely what is so fucking exciting about this
