Inspiration
There has been a lot of talk in the news lately about global warming. We found that most people don't understand that a significant amount of CO2 is produced from the foods we eat. We decided to make this website to help people understand their contribution to global warming, and hopefully, they decide to reduce it.
What it does
Our website allows the user to choose the food type they want then asks for the amount in grams. It then calculates the amount of CO2 in kilograms that the food you eat produces. As of the submission of this project, it does not use actual values to calculate the amount of CO2, but it instead uses placeholders.
How we built it
Javascript, HTML, CSS, and editors such as VScode and Atom.
Challenges we ran into
Dynamically creating and clearing elements within our website (text, buttons, etc.).
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning javascript also the website looks very nice.
What we learned
The team learned how to use Jinja. We also learned and expanded our knowledge of several languages such as HTML and CSS.
What's next for Carbon Calculator
We plan to make use of Flask and Python in order to keep track of your carbon footprint so that if a user wishes to track their progress they would be able to. We also would like to make greater use of Jinja to add multiple pages to our website that would perform different purposes.
