Version Tracker — Issue Tracker

This repository is the public bug tracker and feature request board for Version Tracker, a macOS app that finds and installs updates for the software already on your Mac — Homebrew, Mac App Store, audio plugins, developer toolchains and more.

This repository contains no source code. Version Tracker is closed source. Only issues are tracked here.

Report a bug

  1. Update first. Many reports are already fixed in the latest version.
  2. Search existing issues — including closed ones — before opening a new one.
  3. Open a bug report.

The form asks for your Version Tracker version, your macOS version and which source is affected. Please fill it in — a report without those three things usually cannot be acted on.

Request a feature

Open a feature request. Describe the problem you are trying to solve rather than the solution you have in mind — it often leads somewhere better.

Version history

See CHANGELOG.md for what changed in each release. Downloads and in-app updates come from version-tracker.app.

Questions, licences, purchases

Not a bug? Email support@version-tracker.app. Please do not open an issue for licence or payment questions — they involve personal data that should not be public.

Security issues

Do not open a public issue for a security vulnerability. See SECURITY.md.

Privacy — please read before pasting anything

Issues here are public and indexed by search engines. Never paste:

  • your licence key
  • your email address or order number
  • logs or screenshots containing file paths with your name, tokens, or the contents of private repositories

Redact anything you are unsure about. If a report genuinely requires private data, say so in the issue and it will be moved to email.

Language

Please write in English or French so that other users can find and follow your issue. The app itself is available in English, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese.

What to expect

  • Every issue is read.
  • Expect a first reply within about a week.
  • A report being accepted is not a commitment to a fix or a date. Issues that cannot be reproduced, or that fall outside the app's scope, are closed with an explanation.
  • Fixed issues are closed with the version number that contains the fix.
