The Hobbit is the 113th Magic: The Gathering expansion. It is part of the Universes Beyond series, and is scheduled for release on August 14, 2026. This set is the second Magic set based on J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, after The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth (2023). The story follows home-loving Bilbo Baggins, the titular hobbit who joins the wizard Gandalf and the thirteen dwarves of Thorin's Company on a quest to reclaim the dwarves' home and treasure from the dragon Smaug.

The Hobbit is a smaller set like Marvel's Spider-Man and TMNT. There are no Commander decks attached to this product. The Headliner is Smaug, the Magnificent, which features a gleaming gold foil version, a dragon hoard showcase, a borderless version, and a default version.

The Hobbit sees the return of various mechanics from Tales of Middle-earth, including Sagas and Amass, although in this set, cards amass Goblins rather than Orcs.

A new spin is put the historic mechanic with Storied. Cards with Storied count the number of artifacts, legendary permanents, and Sagas you control, and permanently grant you an enduring story when you control three or more. These cards also have additional effects when you have an enduring story.

Another new mechanic is the keyword action Recruit. When you recruit, you draw a card, discard a card, then create a 1/1 white Human Soldier creature token if you discarded a nonland card. Similarly to connive, it acts as a smoothing mechanic that also grants its controller some advantage on the board.
