Better late than never... Alongside Jamie Ostrer, I was proud to help organise BDO UK's participation in the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge 2026 on 1 July, with more than 100 colleagues from across BDO taking part. I still can't decide what was more challenging: running 5km in the summer heat or coordinating different business units, partner approvals, risk assessments and t-shirt orders, all within a very tight timeframe. The experience certainly gave me an even greater appreciation for the event organisers who somehow make these things look effortless on the day. It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces and connect with people from across the profession. Whether in advisory, audit or tax, there were plenty of great conversations before, during and after the race. Events like this are a great reminder that the organisations we work with, learn from and compete against are ultimately powered by people. Shared interests, healthy competition and collaboration bring us together in ways that go beyond our day-to-day roles. A brilliant day with BDO Ireland yesterday as we welcomed Peter Burke, Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment. Alongside Mark Shaw and Brian McEnery, we explored the economic outlook, the role of ambitious mid-market businesses in driving growth and the opportunities that closer collaboration across Ireland and the UK can unlock for both our people and our clients. As we prepare to enter an exciting new chapter as one enlarged firm, the conversation reinforced the importance of helping businesses navigate change, seize opportunities and invest for the future.
