What is GopherCon

In case you're new here, GopherCon is an annual conference that began in Denver, Colorado in 2014. Our conference is dedicated to the Go programming language and is organized with the help of a community-driven group of developers who wish to promote the use of Go, the formation of an inclusive and supportive Go community, and the education of Go developers. While other versions of GopherCon have popped up globally through the years, our planning team is only responsible for the organization and programming of the US-based conference.

Call for Speakers

GopherCon's Call for Speakers will be open Monday, January 19th - Wednesday, March 4th. Be sure to follow @gophercon on your favorite social platform or in the gophercon channel in the Gophers' Slack workspace for updates. 

Which Ticket Should You Choose?

• Student/Non-Profit - General Admission: If you are a community member who is currently a full-time student, a university faculty member, or employed by a non-profit organization, this ticket is for you. Once you purchase this pass, you must email us evidence of your status (i.e., student/faculty ID card, or non-profit business card) within five (5) days of your registration. If your documentation is not received, your ticket will be canceled and refunded.
• Self-Paid/Startup - General Admission: If you are paying for your conference ticket out-of-pocket or you work for a startup with a limited budget to attend conferences, this discounted admission is for you.
• Corporate - General Admission: To ensure affordable tickets for all attendees, if your company is paying your registration fee, we are trusting our Go community members to choose this ticket category.

Pre-Conference Workshop Tickets

We will be offering half-day and full-day Pre-Conference Workshops this year. Throughout the month of January, workshops will be added to the website as classes are finalized. 

Both half-day and full-day Pre-Conference Workshops will be available on Community Day, Tuesday, August 4th. Half-day workshops ($295) will allow some Gophers to learn about more than one subject, while also providing our budget-conscious attendees greater access to this day of learning. Our full-day workshops ($495) will be ideal for those who prefer to dive deep into a subject.

If you are a student or work for a non-profit, you have access to half-day workshop tickets for $225 or a full-day workshop ticket for $375. If interested, please email our team.

A Pre-Conference Workshop ticket is only valid on Tuesday, August 4th and does not include access to the full conference programming on Wednesday, August 5th – Thursday, August 6th. If you wish to attend the conference, please purchase a General Admission ticket, in addition to your Pre-Conference Workshop ticket.

Group Ticket Discounts

The more gophers, the merrier! We offer a 5% discount for groups of 5 - 9 attendees and a 10% discount for groups of 10+. 

With this said, there are a few caveats to consider:

• Promo codes for groups are available for all Standard General Admission ticket types, as well as Pre-Conference Workshop tickets. The group discount is not available for Early or It's Go Time (Late) General Admission tickets. 
• The group discount does not apply to anyone who has already registered. If you think your company would benefit from a group discount, check in with your teammates before purchasing a ticket. We will not refund a purchased ticket and then issue a promo code. 
• The Pre-Conference Workshop discount is based on the number of tickets you intend to purchase, not the number of attendees (i.e. If seven (7) people plan to attend multiple workshops totaling 10 or more, a 10% promo code will be issued.).
• Once you request your promo code, please be prepared to purchase your tickets; each promo link will have a 10-day use period, and we will not generate a second code if it is not used.

Lightning Talks

This year's Lightning Talks will offer everyone the chance to take the stage in the Main Theatre! Whether it's a personal project, a company announcement, or a hobby you want to tell others about, the Lightning Talks are a great opportunity to get the word out in seven minutes or less. 

The Lightning Talks submission process will be open Monday, June 1st - Monday, June 22nd. 

Scholarship Program

Gopher Academy awards a limited number of scholarships each year to community members in need. Though we are looking for diversity in areas such as gender, race, and nationality, we consider limited financial means as well. 

The scholarship submission process will be open Monday, June 1st - Monday, June 22nd. 

International Gopher Assistance

Need a letter of invitation? No worries, we've got you covered. Simply email us your legal name, job title, as well as your company name and address, and we'll take care of you. 

Refund Policy 

While we would miss seeing you at GopherCon, purchases made before Monday, June 29th are eligible for a full refund. 

No refunds will be issued after Monday, June 29th at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. In the event you need to cancel after that date, you may transfer your ticket to someone else. To do so, open your confirmation email and select "Manage Registration Details". You may also gift it to a Gopher in need or roll it forward to a future year. If you are interested in this option, please email us. Remember that ticket sales support the viability of the conference, so we thank you in advance for your understanding.
