Minecraft VPS

Minecraft VPS: How to create a server for your game

Minecraft isn’t just a game. It’s a world where you can build, explore, and survive mobs—like creepers, endermen, and pillagers.
With a Minecraft VPS, you can host your own server, customize gameplay, and enjoy lag-free adventures with friends.

What is a Minecraft VPS?

A Minecraft VPS is more than just a game server. It’s your own world, where you set the rules. Build vast deserts with lurking endermen, fortify villages against pillagers, or create custom biomes.
With dedicated resources, your redstone machines run without lag, and you won’t see TPS (ticks per second) drops. Hosting on a VPS means you and your friends can explore, build, and battle smoothly in a Minecraft universe that’s entirely yours.

Want to customize your Minecraft server?

Why a VPS for Minecraft (instead of a dedicated server)?

Setting up a Minecraft VPS server gives you several powerful advantages:
Scalability for growing worlds: Easily boost RAM and CPU as your server expands, keeping gameplay smooth, even in busy realms.
Affordable, dedicated resources: Get dedicated server power without the high cost of a full server, perfect for small realms and budget-friendly setups.
Full customization and control: Install mods, add plugins, and adjust settings to build a world that fits your vision.
Lag-free performance: Enjoy reliable, smooth gameplay, even with redstone machines or mob spawners that would slow down shared hosting.

How to set up a Minecraft VPS

To run a Minecraft server smoothly, your VPS should meet or exceed these updated specifications:
  • Dual-core processor (3.0 GHz or higher)
  • 4 GB RAM (6-8 GB recommended for modded servers)
  • 10-20 GB SSD
  • 10 Mbps upload/download
These are the minimum specs. For larger groups or heavy customization, consider upgrading to the “Iron” or “Netherite” options listed above.
Get your Minecraft server up and running with these quick steps:
  1. Access your server: Login via SSH.
  2. Update system: Run sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
  3. Install Java: Use sudo apt install openjdk-17-jre (Java 17 or newer).
  4. Create a directory: Run mkdir minecraft
  5. Download server file: Place the latest .jar file in your folder.
  6. Start the server: Run java -Xmx2G -Xms2G -jar server.jar nogui.
  7. Accept EULA: Open eula.txt, set eula=true, and save.
  8. Adjust settings: Edit server.properties for custom gameplay.
  9. Allow Minecraft port: Open port 25565 on your firewall.
  10. Launch and connect: Restart with java -jar server.jar and join via Minecraft.
  11. Set backups: Schedule regular backups to protect your world.
