The UC Berkeley AI Hackathon is a 2-day hackathon, where hackers creatively collaborate on innovative technology for a chance to win prizes including cash and tech prizes, and attend workshops and panels to learn more about emerging tech!

The AI Hackathon is open to undergraduate and graduate students from all colleges and universities (US or International) as well as recent grads who graduated Fall 2024 or later. You must be 18 years of age or older to attend, no exceptions.

Up to 4 people can be part of a single team.

No. We will have team matching during the event and on Slack beforehand, or you can hack solo!

All experience levels are welcome! We will have programming and support specifically for first-time hackers.

Ideation is allowed, but all implementation must strictly occur during the hacking period.

The event is completely free for participants thanks to our generous sponsors!

Our mascot! It wouldn’t be a Hackathons @ Berkeley event without him :).

Registration

Apply by April 26 (priority) / May 17 (regular)!

Priority applicants have a higher chance of acceptance and are reviewed earlier, allowing for more time to plan travel.

No, but applying in the priority round improves your chances.

You will receive an email on your decision about 1 week after the deadline for your round. If accepted, make sure to confirm your spot before the stated deadline! We will not make exceptions for hackers who miss the confirmation deadline as our event is high-demand.

We do not offer a waitlist or walk-in admission. Only confirmed hackers with a hacker badge and photo ID may attend. Be sure to apply by the respective deadline!

Unfortunately, we do not offer travel reimbursements or hotel accommodations. However, Berkeley is conveniently accessible via BART, CalTrain, and nearby airports (SFO, OAK).
