I love this little palette so much I just ordered a second one. It’s small and easy to hold. I don’t use the thumb ring, but I don’t mind that it’s there.
It comes with half pans, but I’ve been using the half pans I already own that are a little bigger. In spite of the size difference and the magnet on the bottoms of the ones I already owned making them taller, they fit just fine.
The section that holds the half pans pulls out, so there’s another mixing area if you want it. I don’t use that for mixing, however. I don’t think I’d find that arrangement as convenient, since the mixing area is recessed. It’s good to have options for those who want them, however. If my half pans hadn’t fit in the tray, I would have taken the tray out and stuck my magnetic half pans in there instead.
The palette has plenty of room for a nice selection of colors, and the mixing areas are perfect for me. I mostly use the three large sections. I use one for mixtures of yellow and blue, the second for red and blue, and the third for red and yellow. I haven’t used this palette with earth tones yet, but I think if I needed to get into browns and neutrals, I’d use the other lid for those so I didn’t muddy my mixtures of primaries.
Anyway, it’s so small, and cute. I own a ton of colors, but only use a few for any given painting. Being able to switch colors out so I’m only dealing with the ones I need is perfect. I feel so happy every time I pick up this palette. I do my art in small spaces with a lap desk, and this makes it so easy to access the colors I want.

Excellent little watercolor palette. This is metal, compactly sized ad 2 3/4 x 4 3/4. It comes with removable plastic half pans that can be filled with the paint of your choice to curate your own collection. The folding covers provide space for mixing paints. This can be great for throwing in a bag if you want to do plein air or paint while traveling. I use mine for different collections and include a sample that I made on watercolor paper inside.
