Common Questions
I am not receiving a verification code from a website
Atomic Mail does not block emails with verification codes. Please contact the technical support of the website you are trying to receive the code from. Additionally, please let us know about this issue by contacting our support team.
Is Atomic Mail compatible with third-party email apps via IMAP, SMTP, or POP3?
Currently, Atomic Mail does not support IMAP, SMTP, or POP3 protocols for connecting to third-party email clients. We plan to launch this feature later in 2026. To stay updated, we recommend following our social media channels.
Can I restore a deleted account?
No. Deleting an account is an irrevocable action. For privacy and security reasons, deleted accounts and their contents are removed from our systems and cannot be reactivated.
I forgot my username. What should I do?
Try these methods to recover your forgotten username:
1. Check your seed phrase file. Look for the "Atomic Mail Seed Phrase.txt" file downloaded during registration. It contains your exact username.
2. Check linked services and contacts. See if your login is saved in your browser, a password manager app, the account settings of other services, or simply ask people you've previously emailed.
I cannot log into my account
If you are experiencing difficulties logging in, please try disabling your VPN. Often, the issue is caused by the VPN connection. Otherwise, please contact us.
My password is not accepted
If you are entering your password but cannot log in, please try to change the password using your seed phrases. Then you can restore access to your account. Otherwise, please contact us.
Can I delete or change an alias?
At the moment, aliases cannot be deleted or changed. Creating an alias is an irreversible action.
I lost my password and seed phrase. Can my account be recovered?
We cannot restore your account if you lose your seed phrases. To protect your privacy, Atomic Mail uses zero-access encryption, meaning we never store your password or seed phrase on our servers. Without your unique seed phrase, there is simply no way for anyone — including our support team — to recover the account.
My inbox is empty and I cannot see my emails
If your inbox appears empty or you cannot see your emails, please try logging out of your account. Then, disable your VPN and log back in.
What is the storage limit?
Atomic Mail offers unlimited storage for free. You can store as many emails as you need without worrying about running out of space.

Account Management
Can I change my seed phrase?
No, for security reasons, Atomic Mail does not support regenerating or changing the seed phrase after an account is created.
Do you delete inactive accounts?
Currently, we do not have a strict policy for deleting accounts due to inactivity. However, we recommend logging in at least once a year.
Can I rename my email address?
You cannot change your primary email address after creation. However, you can create an Alias in your settings.
Is two-factor authentication (2FA) available in Atomic Mail?
Yes. For an extra layer of security, Atomic Mail supports two-factor authentication (2FA). This means even if someone gets your password, they can't access your account without your secondary authentication method.
How do I delete my account?
To delete your account, log in and head to Account settings in the top left corner. Scroll to the bottom and click "Delete account," then enter your password to confirm.
Please note: Deletion is permanent and final. To ensure your privacy, we wipe all your data immediately—once it's gone, it can never be recovered.
Sending & Receiving
I'm not receiving verification codes
Atomic Mail does not block incoming messages. Please check your Spam and Trash folders first. If the email isn't there, contact the service sending the code to ensure it was dispatched. Still having trouble? Contact us for support.
Why aren’t my sent emails reaching the recipient?
If your recipient hasn’t received your email, please ask them to check their Spam or Junk folders first. We are aware that some providers, like Outlook, can be extra cautious with incoming mail. If the message still hasn't appeared, please contact us for assistance.
What does the "SUBMIT OPS ARE LIMITED" error mean?
This error occurs when a user sends emails too frequently. It is an automated anti-spam measure designed to protect our infrastructure. We plan to introduce a dedicated corporate subscription with higher sending limits for business users in the future.
I cannot send a file attachment
If you are unable to send a file, please contact us. Specify the file format and size.
Why do my emails go to Spam in other mail clients?
If emails sent from Atomic Mail are marked as spam, the recipient needs to mark the sender as trusted.
Are there sending limits?
To prevent spam, we have dynamic limits on the number of messages you can send per day.
What is the maximum attachment size?
The maximum size for email attachments is 25 MB.
New to Atomic Mail
What is Atomic Mail?
Atomic Mail is a secure and private email service designed to protect your communications with end-to-end encryption, zero-access security, and advanced privacy features. Unlike mainstream providers, we prioritize user anonymity and data protection.
How do I create an Atomic Mail account?
Visit the Atomic Mail sign-up page → Choose a username → Create a password → Get your recovery seed phrase.
What information is required to sign up?
Just a first name, username, and password. For your absolute privacy, we don’t require phone numbers, secondary emails, or any other sensitive info.
What is the recovery seed phrase?
Since we don’t collect sensitive info, we use a private recovery system via a seed phrase. It’s a unique set of words that lets you regain access if you forget your password. You can use a generated phrase or enter your own.
Keep it safe — without it, your account cannot be recovered.

Aliases are completely free and available on our free plan.
How many aliases can I create?
Aliases are included for free: up to 10 per account on the Free plan. Atomic Mail Plus users can create up to 15 aliases per account.
How do I create aliases?
You can easily create and manage aliases from both your inbox and settings:
From the inbox: Click the + sign next to the "Aliases" section on the left sidebar → Enter your password → Choose your alias name → Click Create.
From settings: Tap your profile picture (top right) → Settings → Aliases → Create Alias.
In settings, you can also manage all existing aliases.
Are aliases encrypted just like my primary email?
Yes. All aliases benefit from the same end-to-end encryption as your primary email, ensuring full security and privacy.
What are Short Aliases and how much do they cost?
Short Aliases are a premium feature that lets you claim a unique, 4-character email address (like name@atomicmail.io). You can create them right from your "Aliases" dashboard – just select "Short Address" as the type. This feature starts at $5/month. We'll also be introducing even shorter addresses (3 characters or less) in the near future.
Encryption & Security
What encryption does Atomic Mail use?
We use a multi-layered encryption stack to secure your data at every stage:
• In Transit: TLS 1.3
• End-to-End (E2EE): Atomic Encryption, AES-256, and ECIES
• File Protection: AES-256-CBC for attachment encryption
Learn more about the encryption technologies we use here.
What encryption options are available?
We offer four levels of protection to suit your needs:
• Standard encryption (TLS): Protects your messages during transmission between servers. This prevents tampering and safeguards your emails from being leaked.
• Password-protected and ZIP encryption: Send end-to-end encrypted (E2EE) messages to any external email provider.
• Atomic Encryption: Our highest level of end-to-end privacy, designed specifically for communication between Atomic Mail users.
Read more about our security protocols here.
What is Atomic Encryption?
Atomic Encryption is our unique encryption protocol, designed from the ground up to deliver maximum privacy and security. We combined the most modern and robust technologies, including ECIES and AES-256, to create a solution that doesn’t rely on existing frameworks. This ensures unparalleled protection for your emails, making them accessible only to you and your intended recipients. Read more about the tech behind it and how it works here.
What is Encrypt by Password?
This feature allows you to send secure, password-protected messages to any email address, including non-Atomic users. The recipient simply enters the password you’ve shared to read the message.
Custom Self-Destruction: By default, these emails expire after 28 days, but you can manually set your own self-destruct timer for even tighter control. Once the time is up, the message is permanently deleted, making it ideal for sharing sensitive information.
What is Encrypt as File?
This feature converts your entire email and all attachments into a single, password-protected ZIP archive.
Why use it: It works with any external email provider and allows the recipient to decrypt and read your messages completely offline once the file is downloaded to their device.
Can Atomic Mail read my encrypted emails?
No. Atomic Mail uses a zero-access architecture, meaning your emails are encrypted in such a way that even we cannot access their content. Even if we wanted to, it would be technically impossible.
Is my data stored on secure servers?
Yes. Your data is stored in highly secure servers located in Germany, within ISO 27001-certified data centers. These facilities adhere to the highest global standards for data protection, ensuring your information is safeguarded against physical and digital threats.
Is Atomic Mail audited by third-party security experts?
Yes. We prioritize transparency and security. Atomic Mail undergoes regular audits by independent third-party security experts to verify that our systems meet the highest security and privacy standards. Your trust is our top priority, and we’re committed to maintaining transparency and accountability.
