one year in, was it an escape or did I learn something? :-)

For the past one year, I have intentionally travelled every other two months. Mainly for work, but also going on vacations. I have spent tons of money on experiences, and on (not so-little) trinkets. I have explored, watched the sunset in different cities. I have enjoyed the ocean, in so many angles. I sat by the water, watching the waves rise and fall. I have revelled in the calmness and I have heard the slow hum in company. I have indulged in the history, not so much on the food. Cuisines and I, don’t truly mix.

The space to create

If my 18 year old self could see me today, she would be very jealous. Not because of glamour or glitz, but because I have curated a life where I have everything I ever wanted to create. A space I can call my own. Fun fact: before 22, I had never had a room to myself. Funny since I grew up an only child. I remember during COVID I would take my calls outside the verandah because all the rooms were occupied. And now, I have had a space I curated and build, to work, to live, to cook and to be creative on. Though much to my dismay, all the space in the world couldn’t afford me the win of creating, learning and building.

Whenever I face a challenge, I try my best to resolve the issue. It mainly stems from my desire to fix things. To ensure things are whole. And I am always able to fix things. I was always able to get solutions to everything. Until I could not. And the challenge was not some big project in the wild like fixing capitalism.

I really threw this page away, huh!

In my defense….

I really hate being that person who’s always saying sorry always apologizing. I also hate being inconsistent…but consistency keeps slipping through my fingers. To be fair, I’ve never truly been consistent. Right now, I’m back to basics learning, re-learning, and trying to create again. And let me tell you: creating content is rough.

So far, I’ve managed to put out three newsletters, I’m on video three in my fun demo series, but I haven’t posted a single blog here since February. Or March since I deleted the last blog.

I’m reading a new book, The Wedding People. And the premise is interesting. Phoebe booked a hotel room simply to die. It bring a lot of emotions to the surface. And, when she failed. When her mission collapsed because of her love of endings, she wanted to watch the wedding party that was happening downstairs. Her love of not wanting to leave anything unfinished. That’s when she truly began living.

💡 What if the only way to achieve perfection is completing your own damn work?

For the longest time, I’ve been staring at blank pages. The idea of perfection in my head seems impossible to achieve in real life, leaving me frozen, unable to start. Time and again, I find myself struggling to take that first step.

My process always starts with endless planning. It begins with a spark something lights up in my brain, like my idea for a newsletter. Then I create list after list: topics I want to cover, actions needed to bring the idea to life. Gradually, I designed the whole newsletter layout. Yet a year later, all I have is a Substack page with nothing but a “launching soon” sign.
