Inspiration

The inspiration for Campus Kitchen came from seeing how often myself and my peers felt disconnected during one of the most communal parts of daily life, having a meal.

What it does

Campus Kitchen was created to address a common challenge in the college lives of many students. Many people, especially those living in dorms, often find themselves dining alone, feeling isolated, or missing the comfort of shared meals from home. Cooking can feel overwhelming for beginners, and campus food options are often limited, unhealthy, and cause students extra expenses. The lack of communal dining and cooking opportunities leads to lesser chances for students to bond, share their cultures, and form micro-communities. Campus Kitchen makes it easier for students to connect over food and get access to home cooked meals, whether that's cooking together, joining a potluck or a dinner party, or simply just finding someone to share a meal with!.

How I built it

  • My research process involved user surveys. link
  • With a total of 15 responses from college students ranging from freshman to graduate students, I derived a problem statement and pain points from the data to guide my project.
  • I used Figma to design both high fidelity and low fidelity screens of the project.I also used it to prototype. ProCreate was used to draw character mascots/app assets.

Challenges I ran into

  • Time management
  • Organizing user flow and onboarding experience.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of.

  • Synthesizing user research to create a design solution in a short amount of time.

What's next for Campus Kitchen

  • Designing more high fidelity app screens and prototyping.
