Inspiration

We were inspired by the concept of "Cookie Clicker," where users entertain themselves by clicking on a cookie, which in our case is a clock. This project is an extension of the game, and we decided to add a more educational approach to promote learning while playing.

What it does

The purpose of this website is to create an engaging and enjoyable environment where users can learn about historical events and keep track of personal life milestones. By offering an interactive experience, the website aims to spark users' interest in exploring events while providing a relaxing and stress-relieving activity.

How we built it

We used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build the website and add features to it.

Challenges we ran into

Since many of our teammates were new to Hackathon and unfamiliar with JavaScript, it was difficult to get started and get used to working in a team with these programming languages. It was especially challenging for us to display historical and life events and associate the dates with the correct texts. Additionally, combining everything into the desired layout proved to be a significant challenge. Also, since we are dealing with calendars, this challenges us to work with the years which have 366 days instead of 365 days and others like the month of February.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud that we have successfully overcome most of the challenges. For instance, we are able to display all the events with the desired date. Although there are still improvements to be made, we have learned many new coding techniques with these programming languages. This project helps us to enhance our knowledge on HTML and CSS.

What we learned

We learned how to cooperate with our teammates and communicate efficiently. Additionally, we gained knowledge of new programming languages (e.g. JavaScript) and were able to use them to create our project with the help of learning websites, such as W3Schools.

What's next for Chrono_Clicker

We aim to make our website a global platform that will automatically update with news and events from around the world. Additionally, we want to allow users to personalize their own life events, such as the birthdays of their loved ones. For historical events or news, we plan to include a section that provides detailed information about each event, helping users understand its context and background.
