Inspiration

We were inspired to create CrisisSync as a solution to facilitate effective and swift communication among individuals in the event of a shooter hostage scenario. Recognizing the limitations of using a phone, we aimed to leverage the convenience and efficiency of a watch-based communication system.

What it does

CrisisSync enables users to send distress signals, location information, and communicate with each other seamlessly through a specialized Zepp OS watch. In times of crisis, it serves as a reliable tool for ensuring swift response and coordination, ultimately enhancing the safety and security of individuals.

How we built it

CrisisSync was meticulously developed using the advanced capabilities of the Zepp OS watch platform. Leveraging geolocation sensor and intuitive design principles, we engineered a user-friendly interface that facilitates seamless and rapid communication between users during critical situations. 100% of the interaction is through the watch communicate through our custom backend with APIs.

Challenges we ran into

Throughout the development process, we faced various challenges, particularly in ensuring the seamless integration of the communication system within the constraints of a wearable device since Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is not an option to communicate from watch to watch. Overcoming technical limitations and optimizing the user experience due to documents posed significant hurdles that demanded creative problem-solving and innovative approaches.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have created a robust and reliable communication system that can significantly enhance the safety and security of individuals during crisis situations. Our achievement lies in delivering a practical solution that empowers users to stay connected and informed, thereby fostering a sense of reassurance and preparedness.

On the technical side, we are really proud that we engineer a way to communicate seamlessly between watches without the help of BLE while also provide a real-time system to alert danger with proximity.

What we learned

Through the development of CrisisSync, we gained valuable insights into the intricacies of wearable technology integration in ZeppOS ecosystem, as well as the critical importance of real time system in emergency communication systems. We also deepened our understanding of the unique challenges associated with ensuring seamless communication in high-stress environments especially with lots of API calling for MongoDB object and between watch - phone and watch - watch.

What's next for CrisisSync

Moving forward, we aim to expand the capabilities of CrisisSync by incorporating additional features such as automated alert systems base on other variable we could connect through ZeppOS and their watches, and enhanced location tracking for criminal tracking to faster police job. We also plan to collaborate with emergency response teams to integrate CrisisSync into their protocols, further optimizing its potential to save lives and mitigate risks during critical incidents.
