🌟 Inspiration

Navigating real-world spaces and visualizing vehicles in augmented reality has long felt futuristic, we wanted to make it practical, immersive, and accessible. The idea stemmed from imagining how users could explore cars without entering a physical showroom and receive intuitive driving directions directly through their mobile screens.

🚀 What it does

PocketShowroom AR Navigation combines two powerful AR utilities in one mobile app:

  • Markerless AR Car Showroom: Select, customize, and place virtual cars in real-world environments with interactive controls.
  • AR GPS Navigation: Get turn-by-turn guidance overlayed in real time using your mobile camera for intuitive driving assistance.

🛠️ How I built it

  • Developed using Unity 2021.3.4f1 as the primary engine
  • Integrated Vuforia SDK for markerless augmented reality capabilities
  • Modified Vuforia objects to work alongside the AR Location library
  • Designed car models and interactive elements using Unity's animation system
  • Built the AR navigation interface with dynamic dashboard overlays and directional pathfinding

🧗 Challenges I ran into

  • Creating precise markerless placement that scaled well across devices
  • Synchronizing GPS data with AR overlays for stable real-world alignment
  • Optimizing model performance while retaining interactive features
  • Handling compatibility and calibration between Vuforia and the AR location system

🏆 Accomplishments that I'm proud of

  • 🏅 Selected among the National Top 40, Grand Finalists from over 3000+ submissions
    at the XR Creator Hackathon @ WAVES Summit 2025, India 🇮🇳 powered by Ministry of Information and Broadcast India
  • Built an end-to-end XR application from scratch with a real-world use case
  • Integrated AR for both showroom visualization and navigation, a rare combo in consumer apps
  • Created an intuitive, immersive interface that feels like future tech in your hands
