What drew us to deciding to build a website for Finch is the ingenuity of the company idea. As undergraduate students, we have all experienced the constant rejection from job applications despite putting our best efforts forward, so we truly believe in Finch's purpose and hope to contribute to the startup in some way.
The website currently has a Home, About, and Product pages that include information about the product and how to use it. Features include an email capture form, contact form, FAQ section, dark mode, and fun animations that help tie in the finch theme and company color scheme. The site also includes call-to-actions that people use to sign up, purchase, and/or download the product. As requested, there are also buttons for sharing and social media.
We built the website using Nextjs and collaborated on Github. Animations were created using Jitter. Since building websites is new to the majority of our team, we all faced challenges in learning how to use Nextjs, customizing animations, and tailoring the website to the founders' specifications.
Other than building a functional front-end website within a day and a half, we are most proud of our inclusion of animations and custom icons. Collectively, we've learned a lot about front-end development and design, and we hope to improve our current prototype and continue to work with Finch if they like our website.
