Inspiration

We wanted to use today’s technology to empower the medical field in the form of data visualization

What it does

Renders a 3D image of the brain in VR

How we built it

Built with C# and Unity for the 3D image rendering, VR for the interpersonal experience. We used Lovable to create an engaging web app and python to handle and manipulate our data.

Challenges we ran into

Rendering the different cross sections as 3D images was tremendously difficult. How would we use different cross sections to generate a whole image of the brain? We took each pixel as a cube in space, and rendered out the image as well as the flow of electrical activity with time to provide a well rounded user experience for medical professionals.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re extremely proud of utilizing today’s new AR/VR technology to solve real world problems. I think despite being our biggest challenge, rendering the #D image of the brain was by most equally as rewarding. Being able to support the ones who save lives for a living was the biggest way we could give back.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how to create a user experience catered towards our audience and how to use AR/VR to show how useful it is in the medical/medicinal field. We’ve also learned how to dedicate a lot of time planning and thinking about our solution rather than winging it.

What's next for fMRI-VR

Allowing doctors to interact more with the brain for teaching purposes as well.
