Inspiration
The difficulties of online lecturing prompted this effort. We noticed a need for a summarizer because students can get sleepy and distracted sifting through long lectures.
What it does
Extract text from audio and video files while summarizing the most important terms and phrases for that lesson.
How we built it
Glossy is built using AssemblyAI's transcription API which not only transcribes audio and video file but has the ability to filter, categorize and search using the results.
Challenges we ran into
As beginners and this being our first hackathon, the entire experience has been challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The joy of seeing our vision come to fruition has been a great moment for us. And knowing that this can benefit many students and improve the quality of learning makes us happy.
What we learned
The development of this idea has enabled us to grow as programmers and learn about AssemblyAI and its vast capabilities.
What's next for Glossy
We hope to be able to deploy glossy to schools throughout our region to enhance the quality of learning and make learning more accessible for all.
