Inspiration

We would check the facebook group for people looking for other people to partner up with but we were all fairly new to Hackathon. We discovered each other before the hackathon started when we were all walking around looking at sponsors. We realized the potential we had as a group because we all had abilities we could use to contribute to our project. We came up with this idea because none of us knew who we were going to work with and what was going to happen

What it does

This website is designed for people who are looking for others attending the same hackathon who are also looking for partners. The user inputs what skills they have and are introduced to a list of potential partners and their profiles. There are also forms of communication attached to each person's profile that lets them communicate with each other.

How we built it

The front end is built with HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and JavaScript. The Backend is built with JavaScript, Angular.js, Firebase, and Angular Fire. The website keeps a live update of all the users on the FireBase database.

Challenges we ran into

This was our first time using the Firebase, and we had problems getting it to work with angular. We had to use the angularFire API to make this work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were proud of the sheer amount of knowledge we gained pursuing our idea and making it a reality. The refinement in our skills is what we are most proud about.

What we learned

We learned how to work together as a team and make sure everyone's goals were on track with each other before moving forward. We also improved our skills immensely in the respective areas we were all working on.

What's next for HackerMatch

Hackermatch may be a simple website but it has a lot of potential to become much bigger. Hackathons are now huge events that people look forward to and our website lets these people discover new friendships and also potentially discover a winning team. We could connect Hackermatch to the actual hackathon websites so it could be reached easily by the users.

We are planning to make this available to use for all hackathons. We are planning to implement more features like using the tinder API to create automatic matching.
