Inspiration:

75% of Americans maybe chronically dehydrated according to CBS! Our product helps solve this problem by reminding people to re-fill their water bottles by making it as seamless as possible.

What it does:

The bottle calculates a voltage frequency based on the quantity of water and the value is used to determine whether a user should be reminded to refill their water bottle. The app uses the information to send a text message to a user that signs up with his or her phone number. The app also uses this value to mark the locations where water is refilled which is factored into the decision to send a text.

How we built it:

The bottle is hardwired to a particle photon that measures the quantity of water. Code was done with Meteor, web development integrated with Wordpress, use of GoogleMaps APIs and texting through email.

Challenges we ran into:

Figuring out how to ping people based off a certain number, working with a bread board, connecting hardware with software.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

Making it FULLY FUNCTIONAL! This is also all of our first hackathons.

What we learned:

Learned how to use Google Maps API, hardware, Meteor.

What's next for Hidrate:

Possible startup in the future, watch out world!!!! :D
