Inspiration
Our team has been developing mobile and browser F2P games for more than 6 years already. When the first popular games based on cryptocurrency began to appear, we saw an extremely interesting opportunity. CryptoKitties, Gods Unchained, Sorare – it seemed then new era of CCG games were about to appear. However, as time passed, it became clear that crypto-games and ordinary games are laying on different planes of gamedev world and that the audience just simply doesnt want to move from one category of games to another.
We want to make a bridge between those audiences. A crypto game that will be of interest to both sides: to wide audience of gamers and to crypto enthusiasts.
How we built it
Murkwood Tale – a battler game with a simple entrance point, deep character development ; offers gameplay that make player face a lot of challenges - experience gaining, increasing the grade of units, obtaining weapons and rare resources, progressing through the storyline. All this will lead to a conflict between the players for especially valuable territories in the open world and forcing them to fight, burning resources with each other and saturating the gameplay with emotions. An open economy based on NEAR will allow players to exchange resources, accelerate progress and increase engagement and aggravate conflicts due to the real value of items.
Accomplishments that we're proud of We have long wanted to create an F2P project with an open economy based on cryptocurrency and the concept of Murkwood Tale has already been described, but being busy at our main job did not allow us to start development in earnest.
After learning about the hackathon, in just three weeks we were able to create a demo for 30 minutes of gameplay, while integrating with NEAR smart contracts (NFT especially) and lay the foundation for a full-fledged vertical cut.
What's next for Murkwood Tale
Within a month — a vertical cut with all the gameplay mechanics. Within two months — the MVP will be sufficient enough to be launched as a soft launch and capture the main game metrics. Within six months — art processing, auction and end-game gameplay. During the year — global Release.
