Inspiration

As indie hackers, I often experience the frustration of pouring weeks into a new idea only to discover there was no real market need. I was tired of relying on gut feelings or spending endless hours on manual research. I wanted to build a better, faster, and more data-driven way to validate ideas.

What it does

It automates startup idea validation by analyzing real, unfiltered conversations from Reddit. You simply input your idea, and our tool can generate a comprehensive report that provides key insights on market size, pain points, competitive landscape, and customer sentiment, helping you build with confidence.

How we built it

I built with a NextJS frontend for a fast, modern user experience. The backend is a powerful Golang API that handles data processing and analysis, backed by a PostgreSQL database for reliable storage. I used a custom AI pipeline to intelligently summarize the unstructured Reddit data into our structured reports.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was filtering through the sheer volume of data on Reddit to find relevant, high-quality insights while filtering out noise and spam. I also had to fine tune our AI prompts to ensure the generated reports were not just accurate, but also actionable and easy for a founder to understand.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud to have built a fully functional product that delivers a genuine "aha!" moment for the first users. Getting the first piece of positive feedback from someone who saw immediate value was a huge accomplishment and a validation of the project itself.

What we learned

I learnt the immense value of a laser-focused niche. Instead of building a generic market research tool, focusing specifically on the pain of startup validation allowed me to create a product that solves a very real problem for a passionate community.

What's next for FounderSignal

I plan to implement a referral program to drive organic growth. I'll also explore integrating new data sources beyond Reddit and will continue to refine AI to provide even more detailed and personalized insights for founders.
