Inspiration
One team member saw an app on TikTok that offered daily side quests, and, wanting to do something similar but focused on well-being, Questr was born.
What it does
Questr provides users with personalized daily side quests to improve their well-being.
How we built it
We started by creating a frontend and a basic backend, then worked on a better-looking UI, implemented a Gemini API to generate tasks for the user, and, lastly, added personalization by asking the user a bit more about them upon registration.
Challenges we ran into
None of us had used APIs or done Hackathons, so the quick turnaround and the learning gap in AI were challenging. However, we got through this by holding each other accountable, working together and using online resources.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that our website works and that we were able to use an API for the first time.
What we learned
We learned how to debug using AI tools, such as GitHub Copilot, and how to connect a Gemini API to a website.
What's next for Questr
The following steps for Questr are to add more ways to reward users, e.g., more complex achievements or a system to collect badges.
