Inspiration

We want to solve indecisiveness of choosing what food to eat with "Tinder for food".

What it does

Our app shows you types of food (for example, burgers, sushi, or burritos) in a Tinder-style swipe-to-choose format. Swiping right (or pressing the smiling face button) adds your choice of food to a yes-list. You can then look at the list and expand each type of food you're interested in to see the nearest locations where you can get that food. If you see a type of food that you know you want immediately, you can choose the "love" button and immediately see a list of the nearest locations for that food.

How we built it

We picked up some new technologies, especially Android and node.js. Our Android application can go through restaurants and also load data from our backend. Our server talks directly with Factual and not only pulls the list of restaurants within our current location, but also returns restaurants that are only open at the time of request.

Challenges we ran into

Time was the main challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're really excited about this project because we challenged ourselves with new technology. Building an Android application took more effort than building a web app, and we were able to piece together both the front-end and back-end. Even though we were indecisive, we were able to come together on an idea and be excited about building it!

What we learned

We learned a lot about Gitflow, Android dev, node dev, and Android design spec.
