Inspiration:

  • utilizing robust technologies to predict heatwaves would help in reducing risks posed to vulnerable populations of the country

What it does:

  • Analyzes weather data from 1970-2024 to predict whether heatwaves will occur at the desired/ inputted date (day and month).

How we built it

  • Used Python and ML Libraries to build to predictive model, used a combination of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build the Website Aspect of the project, used sources like Tableau to chart data on graphs, and used Github, CloudFlare, and GoDaddy (PorkBun) to host our website domain!

Challenges we ran into

  • it was hard to spot a specific topic to work on and initially, we were very ambitious concerning the topic but as we worked on it, we realized how much it was realistically possible to complete within this short span of about 36 hours.
  • it was also challenging to learn about new technologies and be able to implement them all at the same time within a short span.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • working on this project, we learned how to create a full-fledged website in a short span and learned an immense amount of concepts and skills. We are proud of having completed this project and extended our learning in Machine Learning, Web Development, and Deployment through new platforms like CloudFlare and GoDaddy (PorkBun).

What we learned

  • How important it is as a team to each hone specific skills so that they can be weaved together into an intricate yet beautiful synergy of collaboration, efforts, and creativity!
  • we learned especially how keeping one another motivated till the very end proves to be a fruitful experience for everyone involved!

What's next for SolarShieldAI

  • integrating Auth0 to authorize government and organizational authorities to access health data provided by users. Secure this to prevent possible breaches of the privacy of data.
