Inspiration
Inspired by the Spanish word for "sunny," Soleada Social was born from a simple realization: the digital world is often fragmented and intimidating. We wanted to build a "Network of Freedom and Joy" (a nod to the Sun God Nika) that scales with the user. Whether it’s a child turning a Spanish sentence into an English fairy tale or an entrepreneur formalizing a business pitch, Soleada is designed to be the warm, guiding light that connects people across language barriers and age gaps.
What it does
Soleada Social is a cross-generational community platform divided into three distinct "Sunlight Tracks":
The Kids Section: An educational playground where children input simple ideas in their native language (like Spanish) and Gemini transforms them into safe, imaginative, 300-word English stories to foster literacy and creativity.
The Teens & Adults Section: A networking hub focused on "Founder Matching" and "LifeStory Pools." It uses AI to anonymize personal details while matching users based on shared experiences or business goals.
How we built it
We built a full-stack solution prioritizing safety and seamless UI:
Frontend: A beautiful, interface built with accessibility in mind, featuring light/dark modes.
AI Engine: We utilized Google Gemini API for the heavy lifting—specifically for story expansion, content safety filtering, and the "Formal-to-Informal" business translation.
Backend: Powered by Vultr Cloud Service to handle user data and the similarity-matching logic.
Matching Algorithm: We implemented a pipeline that embeds user profile attributes to create "LifeStory Pools," ensuring users only interact with others who have shared similar journeys.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest hurdles was contextual safety. Ensuring that a child’s story remains strictly age-appropriate (ages 6–12) while still being creative required rigorous prompt engineering in Google AI Studio. We also faced the technical challenge of building a UI that could flip effortlessly between standard layouts and RTL layouts for our international users without breaking the "Soleada" aesthetic.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are incredibly proud of the Business Translator. It’s more than just a dictionary; it’s a "social bridge" that allows people who might feel insecure about their formal English to communicate confidently with investors and partners. Seeing a rough Spanish sentence bloom into a structured English story with a "Moral of the Story" section was also a massive "Aha!" moment for the team.
What we learned
We learned that anonymity doesn't have to mean isolation. By stripping "doxxable" details but keeping the "emotional core" of a story or a business pitch, we can create much safer and more relevant matches than traditional social media. We also deepened our understanding of multimodal AI—specifically how to use Gemini as a filter, a creator, and a translator simultaneously.
What's next for soleada
The next step is the Solana Integration. We want to implement a "Proof of Contribution" system on the Solana blockchain, where users who provide helpful advice in the LifeStory Pools or collaborate on successful projects can earn "Sol" tokens or badges. We also plan to expand the "Business Supporter" dashboard into a full-scale AI consultant that can predict market pitfalls before they happen.
