We used Stata to do the amalgmation of the data and produce the statistical analyses and graphs. WE took data from BLS for monthly unemployment rates, averaged them across the years and then created groupings of regions by state data. We used google trends to analyze the national interest in the topic of unemployment. We compared the information on percent rate change and aimed to see if they changed as similar rates to answer the questions: Does true unemployment dictate national interest?
Formatting and uploading active graphics (note we cheated and added some images). We ran into trouble because we originally wanted to look at twitter data of news outletstweets on unemployment and found that we could only acccess 2 months of information. So we decided to use google trends instead.
The graphics, our website builder has NEVER CODED BEFORE and she built the whole thing in a day and a half!!!!!!!
Always have a plan B and stay positive when things go badly :)
What's next for technickettes: obviously world domination in data science.....
