Inspiration

As a content creator there is a high power imbalance when trying to monetize videos through sponsors. "As a large youtuber I have been constantly contacted with predatory contracts, and sketchy products or messaging", said one of our team members for this project. Another of our team members mentioned that he doesn't know whether he can trust youtube sponsors since in the past years there has been an increase in scam sponsors like FTX, Established Titles, and many others. We knew that we needed to build a traceable, transparent, and uninflential donation platform.

What it does

Zeritube is a platform that leverages zero-knowledge proofs to take away the power imbalance from donors. The site is separated into 3 main sections. The upload page allows you to upload a video with theta video api and store the extracted filters(# swear words, brand safety score, keywords/sentiments, languages) in a smart contract. The donate page allows you to select your filters (previously mentioned filters and amount to donate) and immediately donate to a matching video. This is the zkp process in which we ensure that the video matches your filters without giving you private information about the video or it's owner. The third section is the gallery section in which we serve all the videos with a transparent list of video donors.

How we built it

We built it using nextjs and chakra ui. For our storage solution we used theta's video API and wrote smart contracts in solidity on theta's testnet. For video analysis we used Openai's whisper API to transcribe to text before analyzing with chatgpt.

Challenges we ran into

Since it was my first time building crypto projects it was difficult to quickly iterate in solidity due to the immutable nature of smart contracts. Ensure chatgpt's response format worked in our code. The crash of theta video api was unfortunate and slowed down development while we waited to be whitelisted after that.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We believe that the project is a complete MVP of what a future without power imbalance might look like for video sponsors. It feels complete and is very technically well established.
