Historic Cost Escalations Delay Start of Projects

Historic increases in construction costs have impacted the original timeline for school rebuilds and remodels. As such, this page will be updated annually to reflect current economic conditions. The most recent estimates are as of November 2025. Reasons for project delays include:

  • Annual cost increases since 2016 have been higher than previous trends.
  • Increases are related to labor shortages, material costs, tariffs, and supply chain issues.
  • Local construction market conditions have out-paced national trends due to population growth.
  • Cost increases are anticipated to be near 10% for the next few years.

The Phase 1 timeline is still based on a ‘worst first’ schedule. In addition to these major projects, security upgrades and small scale remodels will continue. Read more about the impacts of cost escalations on school projects.

Skyline High School Update

What is the Project Status?

Students have been enjoying the fully-completed academics building and athletic facilities this school year (2024/2025).

The auditorium and remaining classrooms will be completed in time for the 2026/2027 school year. Some minor site, parking lot, and landscaping work will continue into the 2026/2027 school year.
