FAQ

What is this thing?

This isBrill.com (is brill dot com). A probably very British slang thing where one describes something as adjective-dot-com, as in I am confused dot com. We make shrine/fan pages on subdomains where each one can say <thing>-is-brill-dot-com.

This design isn’t very good

The isBrill.com look and feel is ugly by design. We hope to evoke a home-made feel and have no current ideas about changing things.

Can I make a brill?

Currently, Brill making is a manual process. Get hold of Matt and pitch your idea to him. Most ideas will get a yes.

What if it is the opposite of brill?

You will want isPants.com – our sister site.

Do I need an account?

For reading and commenting, no. A Mastodon account (or anything that uses ActivityPub) works just as well for replying and liking. Having an account allows you to customise your avatar on a per-site basis and to register your agreement with a brill.

What is this WebMention thing?

WebMention is a technology that lets you reply (mention) from a blog, forum, or other webpage with just a link and a ping. WordPress users can get a simple plugin to take care of all that.

How is the front page sorted?

The front page is ordered by most recently updated. That means that the bloggish pages tend to be listed first.
