Johan Löfberg
Associate Professor, Docent
My research interest lies in the border between control theory and optimization. I was earlier heavily focused on model predictive control, but now prefer a slightly broader perspective on the border between optimization and control.
Dr. Johan Löfberg holds an Associate Professor position at the Division of Automatic Control at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Linköping University. He was appointed the Docent degree in 2011, his Ph.D. in 2003, and his Lic. Eng. degree in 2001, all in Automatic Control from Linköping university.
Research
The central theme of research is optimization in a control context, which typically leads to interest in optimization under uncertainty, efficient optimization models and algorithms, and the implications of using optimization based decisions in closed-loop.
Since the early 2000s, many results and supporting ideas have been implemented in the broadly used MATLAB Toolbox YALMIP, helping students, researchers and companies to put their ideas into practice.
Teaching
Dr. Löfberg lectures Automatic Control (TSRT19, TSRT23) and Automatic Control, advanced course, (TSRT06).
