Made in Kenya, based in Manchester, Macharia is a vocalist and storyteller creating cross-cultural music that blends Swahili and English with folk-inspired melodies. Rooted in her Kenyan heritage and shaped by her life in the UK, her sound focuses on healing and conscious themes. Her vocal mastery bridges cultures while exploring identity, womanhood, and emotional transformation. She has performed at the Manchester Folk Festival, collaborated with the Royal Northern College of Music, and appeared on BBC Radio Manchester. She has also worked as a composer, music director, and facilitator with organisations such as Khweva Arts and Factory International. She is currently part of Manchester Jazz Festival’s Soundcheck programme, where she is refining her artistic voice. Through DYCP funding, she is deepening her exploration of Kenyan traditions and that celebrating heritage, storytelling, and honours both the past and the future
