Open Loot’s Next Original Game

Today, we are excited to introduce Warcast, a new strategy game from Open Loot.

Warcast is developed by Open Loot, the team behind Big Time. As our second title, Warcast is created under Open Loot’s leadership, creative direction, and production oversight. Johnson Yeh, former CEO for China, Japan, and Southeast Asia at Riot Games, is collaborating with the team across all areas of game development, bringing deep experience in large-scale competitive games to Warcast.

This project represents a focused effort to create an original game that expands the Open Loot ecosystem through strategic, cooperative gameplay.

What Is Warcast?

Warcast is a strategy game centered on territory control, resource management, and strategic decision making.

Players expand their influence by securing land, building infrastructure, forming alliances, and competing over finite resources across a shared map. Progress is driven by strategy rather than reflexes, and the game is designed to support asynchronous play, allowing players to engage throughout the day without requiring constant attention.

The result is a competitive experience that rewards planning and coordination.

Why a Strategy Game?

Warcast draws from 4X design principles, a genre focused on expansion, resource scarcity, and strategic tradeoffs. These mechanics provide a strong foundation for player driven economies within a web3 enabled game, where outcomes are shaped by planning and coordination rather than short term action.

The format also supports asynchronous play across browsers and mobile devices, allowing players to make meaningful progress throughout the day without requiring constant active sessions. This flexibility enables broader participation.

Developed Under Open Loot’s Direction

Gameplay First Playtests

Warcast will begin with a series of playtests focused entirely on gameplay, balance, and technical performance.

There will be no monetization during these playtests. Nothing will be for sale. Our goal is to gather feedback, validate systems, and iterate quickly with player input throughout testing.

Some NFTs may be distributed during testing. These NFTs will be non-tradable during the playtest period. Restrictions may change or evolve as development continues.

This phase will include a limited group of Open Loot users selected through an application process. The goal is to test core gameplay systems, economy simulations, and technical stability while collecting focused feedback.

This phase will open Warcast to a wider audience. It will allow us to test scalability and longer-term progression while continuing to refine the game based on player feedback.

Progress from playtests will reset prior to full launch.

🕰️ Big Time Update: Leaderboards Heat Up

Big Time continues to deliver excitement for its dedicated community. The latest update brings new waves of rewards across two ongoing competitions:

• Wave 9 of the Christmas in July Leaderboard
• Wave 4 of the Epoch Storm Leaderboard

Players who have been climbing the rankings can now look forward to receiving their rewards. These leaderboards remain one of the best ways for the community to showcase skill, strategy, and dedication while getting exclusive items.

The Oathshorn Event is closing out with a massive finale running until October 6 at 18:00 UTC. Players can earn +50,000 points for crafting each type of Legendary Oathshorn armor, while decorations and emotes count for double points. The Exalted Crafting Challenge offers an incredible +100,000 points per exalted item crafted, and the new Golden Sealed Rasa Coin Mystery Box brings rare rewards like Branchveil’s Forsaking and Tazukai’s Crimson Remnant eggs. Every box crafted this weekend also grants +100,000 leaderboard points — making this the ultimate push to climb the rankings.

🌸 Moonfrost Update: The Hibiscus Hunt Event

Oxalis Games has introduced The Hibiscus Hunt, a limited-time competitive event in Moonfrost running from October 1 to October 14 (12 PM UTC). Players climb the leaderboard by collecting Hibiscus Flowers 🌺, which can be harvested through planting seeds, placing Gnomes, or completing special resource-based requests.

Top competitors will secure rewards such as:

• Legendary Prizes, including FROST Workbenches and Luck Charms (for the top 5)
• Event Items like Hibiscus Gnomes, Gacha Tokens, and Liquid Luck (for the top 100)

Moonfrost’s dual design makes the event accessible to all. Free-to-play participants can fully compete, while blockchain-integrated players can leverage NFT Gnomes, FROST Tools, and trading systems for efficiency.

🌸 Moonfrost Update

The Hibiscus Event launches next week. Players can collect Hibiscus Flowers 🌺 by planting seeds, placing gnomes, and completing endless Order quests to earn Event Vouchers 🎟️. These vouchers can be traded or redeemed for five different types of Hibiscus Seeds. With leaderboard prizes on the line, Moonfrost players will want to join in early to maximize rewards.

Leaderboard rewards keep rolling out for Big Time players. Wave 8 of the Christmas in July Leaderboard and Wave 3 of the Epoch Storm Leaderboard have just gone live, with rewards on their way to participants.

Since 2020, Open Loot has been on a mission to build the world’s leading Web3 gaming platform. Our vision has always been that true digital ownership and unforgettable gameplay should go hand in hand. Together, we have built Big Time, one of the most successful Web3 titles to date, where players have already been granted over $467 million in rewards, logged more than 4.3 million hours of gameplay in the past year, and crafted over 7.8 million items.

At the same time, we must acknowledge a harder truth: not every partner game in our portfolio has lived up to expectations. Some projects never made it to launch, and others lost traction. This is not about assigning blame. We value entrepreneurship and respect the risks studios take to innovate in such a young industry. However, the reality is that Web3 gaming is still in its earliest phase, and success rates remain low across the board.

Over the past five years, we’ve invested heavily in the ecosystem and learned much. Now, it’s time to apply those lessons and sharpen our focus.

The Future of Open Loot

We are moving toward fewer, more strategic partnerships, complemented by strong internal development, which enables us to provide full support. Open Loot’s internal studios are already building:

• A mobile pet-collecting adventure woven into the Big Time universe.
• A high-stakes competitive strategy game for mobile/browser.

A Commitment to Players

We would like to recognize and thank the players who supported Open Loot titles beyond Big Time by introducing a discount credit program.

• Players will receive a total of $2,914,692 in discount credits based on their past primary purchases in Open Loot titles between August 24, 2023, and September 22, 2025 (outside of Big Time). These will appear as a dedicated credit balance.
• Credits can be applied to take up to 25% off any single primary purchase when paying with $OL (Open Loot Token) in Big Time.
• Example: If you spent $10,000 on WorldShards, you will receive $2,500 in discount credits. When buying a $100 pack, you could use credits to pay only $75, reducing your credit balance by $25.
• Future Open Loot titles are expected to participate in the discount credit program.

Stay tuned for an additional announcement with the program’s start date and other key details.

This way, your early support continues to bring you lasting value as we launch the next generation of Open Loot games.

In addition, all future Open Loot titles will bring added value and utility to your existing Big Time NFTs, another way to ensure that your early support continues to matter.

Partner Transitions

As part of this transition, several partner games will be leaving the Open Loot platform.

Each of the following studios will communicate its detailed transition plan directly to its community.

• The Desolation
• Kokodi

Players of these titles will retain the ability to withdraw their assets, and where possible, migration paths will be provided by the respective studios. Further details will be shared directly by each team to ensure a smooth transition.

The more powerful the chest, the more points it’s worth. Every participating member who opens at least one chest will be eligible for rewards if their guild places in the top 3.
