Venom Mainnet: A Milestone Moment

The most significant event of 2024 was the official launch of the Venom mainnet on March 18th. The mainnet launch was the culmination of rigorous technical innovation and testing conducted by the Venom Foundation, a group of individuals and projects working to provide funding for the continued development of the Venom Network and wider ecosystem.

The foundation’s mission from the beginning was to build a blockchain that can serve as the main infrastructure for a global ecosystem of Web3 applications that operate with ultra-fast transaction speeds and infinite scalability. Reliability, stability and security are imperative for the successful operations of these systems.

From a technical standpoint, perhaps the most significant breakthrough achieved prior to the mainnet launch was the rollout of Mesh technology. Mesh technology facilitates communication between TVM-compatible networks, focusing on high-speed transaction processing, decentralization, guaranteed message delivery, asynchrony and flexibility. The key benefits of this technology include:

• The ability to create new networks with full control over gas and economics
• Interoperability with other networks, including Venom
• The full utilization of applications within these networks (dApps)

It was only after thorough testing of the network that the mainnet was launched. This was achieved by launching Venom in testnet and inviting users and projects to participate in network refinement. As a result of their efforts, all testnet participants have been rewarded throughout the year.

Following the mainnet launch, the Venom Foundation embarked on its plan to forge a number of strategic partnerships over the next six months with the aim of strengthening the network and expanding. The many partnerships created over this period include those with the following:

On the heels of Venom’s mainnet launch, the network hosted its first-ever hackathon. Venom’s Token Forge hackathon took place in Dubai from April 17–24 and included a total prize pool of $200,000 in $VENOM.

In total, 54 teams participated, with a total of $461,753 TVL and a turnover of $3,513,704. The cumulative price of the NFT collections was $134,459, with a turnover of $151,842. The work completed was judged by a jury consisting of industry leaders from the crypto world, including:

Since then, VMs have evolved and emerged as one of the significant components in not just blockchain, but all of modern computing.

When it comes to blockchain technology, VMs facilitate smart contract execution, which in turn allows for the seamless creation of decentralized applications and protocols. VMs are designed to reduce the risk of bugs and vulnerabilities while also optimizing resources and providing enhanced scalability to a network. This enhanced scalability is what will allow a network to handle changes to its transaction load without it affecting the network’s performance or security.

Types of Virtual Machines

There are generally two kinds of Virtual Machines: System Virtual Machines and Process Virtual Machines.

System Virtual Machines

System Virtual Machines, also known as hardware virtual machines, were first introduced by computer scientists Gerald J. Popek and Robert P. Goldberg. These VMs are designed to digitally emulate an entire physical computer system, including the hardware components and the underlying operating system. System VMs were developed to allow multiple operating systems to run concurrently on a single physical machine, without these systems interfering with each other.
