How to Earn and Use Your Sticky Tokens

$GUM Token

Introduction

We’re thrilled to introduce $GUM, our native fungible token on the Flow blockchain. Designed to enhance your interaction with the Flunks ecosystem, $GUM offers new opportunities for engagement and rewards. This guide will help you prepare for the upcoming launch of $GUM and make the most of its features.

What is $GUM?

$GUM is a utility token that powers the Flunks ecosystem. It is a fungible token that you can currently earn by staking Flunks and Flunks Backpacks. This token is designed to enhance the functionality of the Flunks ecosystem, enriching your experience and making it more engaging. Additionally, in the future, there will be additional ways to earn $GUM *wink*. Before we learn the various use cases for $GUM, let’s explore how you can earn it!

How to Earn $GUM

Earning $GUM is straightforward and rewarding:

Flunks: By staking your Flunks NFTs, (We’ll cover how to do this when it’s live.) you can earn 5 $GUM per 24 hours. The $GUM accumulates over time and can be claimed at any moment. For example, if you stake a Flunk for 48 hours, you’ll have 10 $GUM available to claim. If you leave it staked for longer, it will continue to accumulate. (If you REALLY want your $GUM as soon as possible, you may claim it every 30 seconds)

Backpacks: Each Backpack earns a flat rate of 1 $GUM per 24 hours.
Additionally, each slot a Backpack has will increase its earning rate by 0.1 $GUM per 24 hours. If you have a backpack with 11 slots its earn rate will be equal to 1 $GUM + 1.1 $GUM for a total of 2.1 $GUM every 24 hours.

Note: The GUM earning rates are currently in beta and are subject to change as we continue to refine the system.

Preparing to Obtain $GUM

Since fungible tokens like $GUM cannot be held in Dapper Wallet, you’ll need to set up a non-custodial wallet such as Blocto or Flow Core. Here’s how to get started:

Set Up a Non-Custodial Wallet: If you don’t already have one, create a Blocto or Flow Core wallet. For detailed walkthroughs, check out this guide on creating a Blocto wallet and this link to download the Flow Core wallet app.

Request Access to Account Linking: If you haven’t done so already, it will be necessary for you to request access to account linking from Dapper. Here’s how to link your Dapper Wallet for enhanced features:

Start a Dapper Support Ticket.

Add the email address associated with your Dapper Wallet.

Select “Account Linking” as the reason for contact.

Use “Account Linking” as the subject.

In the description, request access to Account Linking.

Submit the ticket.

Most users have reported a response time within 24 hours. For more details, refer to this X post by Flowty_io.

3. Account Linking via Dapper Wallet:

Access Account Linking: In your Dapper Wallet, find the “Account Linking” option.

Account Linking Tab

Link Your Wallets: Follow the prompts to link your Dapper Wallet to your Blocto or Flow Core wallet. This process will transfer the management of your Flunks from Dapper to the non-custodial wallet.

Confirm and Secure: Ensure the linking is successful and that your new wallet is secure and ready to use.

Note: If you prefer not to go through the account linking process, you can transfer your Flunks from your Dapper Wallet to a non-custodial wallet. To do this, navigate to your Dapper Wallet Inventory, select the Flunks you want to transfer and follow the prompts to connect to your non-custodial wallet and complete the transfer.

Uses of $GUM

$GUM will be a versatile currency within the Flunks ecosystem, offering various exciting uses:

Flunk-E-Mart: Spend your $GUM on a range of items at our upcoming shop, Flunk-E-Mart, including Flow, ETH and SOL blockchain NFTs, Flunks merchandise, and other collectibles. The Flunk-E-Mart will be your go-to place for exclusive and exciting items within the ecosystem.

Pocket Juniors: Coming soon, you’ll be able to use $GUM to acquire Pocket Juniors, our upcoming 3D collection and the favourite toys of Flunks! Pocket Juniors (Also known as Juniors) are bare-bodied digital collectibles that can be dressed up with various clothing traits, adding a layer of customization and [REDACTED] to your collection. Each Junior has 7 trait spots, allowing for diverse combinations. Traits come in various rarities and include [REDACTED], enhancing their functionality. Additionally, there are 8 distinct class types representing school subjects like Math, Biology, History, and more, providing thematic depth and [REDACTED] variety to your Juniors. Keep an eye out for future Pocket Junior updates…

$GUM Token Icon

Conclusion

$GUM is more than just a token; it’s a gateway to new experiences and rewards within the Flunks ecosystem. By participating, you’ll be at the forefront of our community’s growth and innovation. Thank you for your support, and stay tuned for more updates and features as we continue this journey together!

Unlocking the Potential of Flunks’ $GUM Token was originally published in Flunks on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Hey Flunk Fam! It’s time for a project update. How does that sound?

This update is well overdue. Many of you have voiced your concerns and confusion about where we are at and where we are headed.

In this update, we will cover everything to eliminate any confusion, and by everything we mean EVERYTHING.

The Team

Starting from the ground up in this debrief, let’s cover the team and our decisions. We have gone through various changes over the year in terms of staffing, partners, decisions, and plans.
At this time our team consists of 8 regularly working individuals. Within this group of 8 individuals includes names you may already recognize, as well as two new names:
- Ervin (Pixel Picasso)
- Alfred
- Buddsy
- Catttelll
- Handy
- (Agent) Victor
- Gerald
- Marwane
This team of 8 covers everything from community and business to development, design, and art. We have a few more hands on deck that assist from time to time with various tasks.

Before we cover the details and progress of the products surrounding the Flunks ecosystem it’s important that we share insight as to why we have been silent with our updates.
The first and most important factor is our ambition. It sounds great on paper that we have been ambitious with our goals, but in practice, it has only been negative to us and to you. As a team, we have stretched out our wings too far this past year, and we tried to work on more than we can handle.
We attempted to… create a game, create a new website, launch staking for Flunks, launch a merchandise brand, plan a series of in-person events for holders, create a Discord bot for Flunks, create a second collection within the Flunks ecosystem, update our marketplace to compete with others and operate CafeDAO; and a lot more.
As we near the end of 2023 we have not met our own expectations with any of these tasks mentioned. Ultimately this was too much for a group of 6 (at the time) individuals to even accomplish in one year, let alone exceed expectations. However, as a team of 8 members, each with different strengths, we recognize that we can work on one thing at a time quite well. With this recognition, we have brought change to our decision-making and planning. Rather than working on everything at once with minimal progress, we have switched our focus to completing one task, or small groupings of tasks at a time. This is the way it always should have been.

Lately, we have prioritized the completion of the Flunks website update, along with staking and $GUM rewards. We just said we would work on one thing at a time, but these three tasks are intertwined and less daunting than working on everything at once. We intend to work in this manner, only biting off as much as we can chew at once. This may push a few goals, such as JNRs and Detention, down the priority order but it will ultimately speed up our production and allow us to provide you with more.
With this realization and action in mind, we want to share with you the progress, decisions, and plans we have made with our various Flunks products and activations.

Communication

Our communication has been lacking over the past few months, and we’re not afraid to admit that. Over the past few months HAVE been afraid to communicate because we didn’t know what to communicate. With some progress made on just about everything, and no large amounts of progress made on one thing, we opted to share… nothing, which is wrong! We have recognized that even small updates are far more appreciated by you than waiting for big ticket updates every few months.
Going forward we will provide Flunks updates bi-weekly. Some of these updates will be more info-packed than others (such as this one), but we have to inform you of where we’re at regularly.
Along with these blog-style updates, AMAs in the form of monthly “School Assemblies” will make their return. Once a month we will host a Discord stage to verbally communicate our progress and to field your questions.

Social Media
Our social media (X, formerly Twitter, and Instagram) presence has come and gone in waves. This is not the best-tasting recipe for success, and we want to change that by posting and engaging more regularly and frequently. Who doesn’t want to see Flunks on social media?

The Website

The Flunks.io webpage currently allows you to check out your Flunks, graduate your Flunks, and claim backpacks for your Flunks. It is styled in a “Flunks 95” theme for nostalgia and storytelling, but it does not provide much substance for Flunk holders currently. As shown below, the forthcoming updates to Flunks.io will provide us with a more lively, purposeful hub for our Flunks. An updated collection page will make navigating through your rebellious high schoolers easier. The new collection page will also contain a section to stake your Flunks and Backpacks for a reward. As you may know, this reward is $GUM.

Staking Flunks and Backpacks

We have released some info sporadically on staking and $GUM. However, some bits of info have changed and it hasn’t been put together in one place.
Staking will be “more legit” this time around. You will have the option to stake your Flunks and Backpacks as opposed to pseudo-staking. Previously we stated the reward for staking, $GUM, would be NFTs on Dapper. However, with recent updates to Flow and the wallets used within the ecosystem, we have opted to make $GUM a fungible token. This will create a much better experience surrounding staking and $GUM. Accumulating tens, hundreds, or thousands of $GUM NFTs would be quite the annoyance, right? The rate at which $GUM is produced per Flunks and Backpacks will not be disclosed in this document. As we have made changes to the method $GUM is acquired we are also tweaking the production rate of $GUM.

Raffles

Raffles are set to be the first use case for that sticky $GUM we’re chewing on. Raffles may not be the name of this initiative upon launch, but this way you get the idea of where we’re going with this. We plan to utilize $GUM and raffles to take away the importance of having a Discord account. We currently operate with high importance on Discord for communication and Flunks holder perks. We would rather bring some of that importance into our own hands and host our own perks on Flunks.io. Want to take home some Flunks stickers? Raffles might just be your key to that door!

CafeteriaDAO and Flunks Art Gallery

CafeteriaDAO has gone through a few changes since our inception. It began as the clubs of Flunks High that were set to provide each clique with different utilities. Ultimately we made the decision to unify the clubs into one, and we formed CafeteriaDAO. This initiative provided $ 100,000 USD to the Flunks community, and a few proposals have passed through prior to the addition of CafeDAO Semesters.
With the addition of these semesters we, the Flunks team, have proposed two ideas for utilizing this fund each semester. We have now gone through three “semesters” of CafeteriaDAO proposals, but it doesn’t seem like we’ve hit the nail on the head yet with the CafeteriaDAO. After the most recent vote to pass on semester three’s proposals, we have decided to pause the operation of CafeteriaDAO. Additionally, we will be pausing the operation of the Flunks Art Gallery. This proposal has seen many great artworks come forth, but we’ve found that it isn’t working the way we intended it to.
Look for future updates on the restructuring of these two initiatives!

Storytelling

We’re working on expanding the foundation laid by the NFTs for our Brand IP, and it’s crucial to us that both you and newcomers get fully immersed into the Flunks world. That’s why we’re making sure to drop fresh content regularly within the Flunksverse. Right now, we’re just pictures without a story to dive into. So, to fix that, we’re launching monthly journals on our updated website. It’s something you can casually read through to really immerse yourself in the Flunks universe! These stories will help you grasp the meaning behind JNRs and Detention. With influences from pop culture, throwbacks to the good ol’ days, and could even be inspired by your own unique flunk adventures, we’re excited to add that extra layer to the Brand and Collection. Enjoy the journey!

Detention

Detention is the name of the game. That is about the extent of what we have shared, and unfortunately, we are going to have to keep it that way a little longer as we work through the first goals we mentioned in this update. We have game style, gameplay, and lore ideas at the ready for a dungeon-crawler-style game, but we haven’t been able to focus enough of our attention on finding the best way to go about Detention. We mean this in more than one way. We want Detention to be a blast for you, adding some real value to your Flunks ownership, and giving you an awesome NFT experience. Plus, we’re on the lookout for the dream team to join forces with us on this project, and we’re not looking to break the bank doing it.

JNRs

The infamous second/sub/side/next collectibles in the world of Flunks. We know, it’s a little confusing to know where these amazing creatures lie in the world of Flunks. However, contrary to popular belief, the artwork for the JNR avatars themselves is complete!
We have more work upcoming to integrate JNRs into the Flunks world. We have worked on naming their traits, and we want to provide you with a little backstory before you come across them in your wallets.
Lastly, we plan to release JNRs to you via $GUM, so this is another prerequisite to the launch of JNRs.

Zeero

When we launched Zeero it seemed like the perfect opportunity to hone in on our developer skills and fill a small gap in the Flow marketplace ecosystem. We created a marketplace with no marketplace fees because we’re merely a middleman for your transactions. We had ambitions to expand on Zeero to include more Flow projects and analytical tools.
We were very pleased with the launch of Zeero, and it was no skin off our nose due to previous developer experience. However, we quickly realized that the issues with Zeero would come in the form of upkeep and maintenance. This was especially the case if we were going to continuously add more projects and features to Zeero. It would only become more and more of a distraction for Flunks. As we have stated before, and for the reasons mentioned above, we will not be expanding on Zeero. In the future, we plan to close the Zeero.art website, but continue to use our functional marketplace via flunks.io for Flunks collectibles.

Merchandise

Flunks merchandise is an interesting topic for us. We had closed the merchandise storefront due to a lack of interest. This doesn’t mean nobody was interested in our merchandise, but we didn’t see enough sales to justify keeping the storefront open 24/7. Catttelll and Buddsy have worked to create physical items for a few Flunks swag bags. We’re thrilled with how some of these products have turned out and we do wish to share some of these items with you. The Flunks merch shop may not return to the same capacity we previously operated, but we’re not opposed to launching a few merchandise items here and there.
If more Flunks merchandise is of interest to you, please let us know!

Thank You!

Thanks a bunch for hanging in there and reading through this update! We’re super grateful for your time and interest in what we’ve got going on.

As we navigate the twists and turns of the Flunks journey, we want to express our sincere appreciation for your support. It’s been a wild ride, and your patience means the world to us.

We’re committed to keeping you in the loop, so stay tuned for bi-weekly updates and monthly “School Assemblies” where we’ll spill the beans on our progress and answer your burning questions. Let’s make this journey together as awesome as possible!

What The Flunk is Going On? was originally published in Flunks on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

CafeteriaDAO — The Overhaul

The old days of CafeDAO have been fun, but we want them to be even funner… Err, more fun! Introducing CafeteriaDAO Semesters.

Flunks Cafe

Introduction

We’ve been working to make some updates to CafeteriaDAO to make the funds easier to use to provide more experiences for you!
CafeteriaDAO Semesters will add more structure and organization to CafeteriaDAO as a whole. Its use will become more frequent and consistent as well. Ohh, there will be bonuses as well! 💸

These voting cycles will operate on a five-week rotation to keep the ideas flowing and fun times coming. Toward the end of these five-week semesters, one proposal will be put into action! Each semester will be broken up into four sections as follows.

Preparation — Brainstorm

Preheat and Cook — Create and submit proposals

Taste Test — Vote

Serve — Implement the winning proposal

You must be wondering, “How will this be accomplished?” and “What did you change?” Every section is described below, along with a new way to submit proposals and vote. Let’s dive in and get to cooking!

Week One — Preparation

Preparation week will be kicked off with a study hall on Discord.
These study halls will be hosted by the Flunks team where we will share CafeDAO updates with you and the status of the fund.
We’ll help generate some ideas for you Misfits to create proposals, and then we’ll leave it in your hands to discuss with your fellow classmates what you would like to see created next.

Week Two and Three — Preheat and Cook

Once the community has had their time to mull over proposal ideas the submission window will open for these proposals.
This two-week window will allow your community members to whip up their proposals and tweak ideas from peer feedback.
There’s a new addition to this process, however. The Flunks team will also create proposals and reveal them to you at the beginning of the second week. This will ensure at least two proposals can be voted on in every voting cycle.
The window to submit proposals will close at the end of the semester's third week. At that time the oven is turned off and no more proposals may be submitted until the next semester begins.

Week Four — Taste Test

Week four begins and all the proposals that were just submitted will be put to the (taste) test. You and the Flunk Fam will vote for your ONE favourite proposal from the bunch. Whether there are two proposals or 13, you will only be able to vote for one.
The weight of your votes will remain the same as before; each Flunk is worth one vote.

Week Five — Serve

Time to serve! The final week of each semester will begin with the passing of a new proposal. Soon after that announcement, we will work to bring the latest winning proposal to life with its proposer(s).
Here’s where the bonus comes in. The member that proposed the winning submission will receive $50 in USDC. (If you’d rather receive Flunks merch we can do that too)
Finally, at the end of the semester, we cool down for the week and start it all back soon after!

The Nitty Gritty

Alongside the addition of CafeDAO Semesters, there are some changes being made to the way we create proposals, submit proposals, and vote on proposals. (I’m going to hate the word proposal by the end of this article) As great as it was, the days of using CAST are over. Proposal submission and voting will be done entirely on Discord in dedicated channels.

How to create a proposal

CafeteriaDAO proposals will now be created in Discord using the #proposal-submission channel. Just like a support ticket, you will be prompted to create a closed Discord channel by clicking on the “Create Proposal” button.

This channel will be private to you and the Flunks team. You will enter your proposal name, description, cost and cost breakdown in this channel to submit your proposal. At the end of the proposal submission window, we will compile each completed submission for voting. (If your proposal is vague or missing information we will do our best to get you on track to correct it.)

How to vote on proposals

The voting week will open a few days after all proposal submissions are compiled. How can they be frequent?)

Can I resubmit a proposal if it didn’t win?
Yes! You can submit your proposal in as many semesters as you’d like to.

If multiple people took part in creating a winning proposal will they each receive $50?
No, the $50 bonus is per proposal. We encourage you to work together to create these ideas, but we don’t want the bonus to be the main focus of your proposals. Feel free to work some fees or wages into your proposals if you’d like!

Can I submit a proposal that uses a lot/all of the funds?
Yes, you can submit proposals of any type. We don’t want to limit your creativity. Proposals requesting large sums of the fund may be reviewed in further detail by the team and CafeteriaDAO Committee, however.

We look forward to this CafeDAO refresher and welcome any additional questions we may not have predicted.

These are the first steps to bringing your Flunks utility ideas to life!

Before we begin if you would like to learn more about CafteriaDAO and what it means for Flunks NFT holders take a read through the first article here.

Prior to Making a Proposal

First and foremost we advise all Flunk holders to discuss their thoughts and ideas with other Misfits in the CafteriaDAO channel in Discord prior to and after submitting proposals. (You may be able to form a team to help brainstorm and work on your ideas!) With CafeteriaDAO we will be forced to lean on you, the community, a little bit to help us create these events and bring them to life as we won’t always be available to create events in person or online. Don’t worry too much about this though; we’ll do our best to support each proposal that is passed through the committee. Once you have fully thought through the proposal that follows the guidelines above it’s time to submit the proposal on CAST!

Each of the things you would like to happen with the CafeteriaDAO funds will require a proposal from the community via CAST. Here is the info required for a proposal to come to life:
TL;DR: Insert a short summary of your proposal, something easy to digest.
Insert Description Here, the more details the better!
How does it benefit Flunks/CafeteriaDAO?
What is the cost breakdown?

CafeteriaDAO proposal walkthrough

Connect your Dapper Wallet at https://cast.fyi/

Find the CafeteriaDAO community within CAST under the DAO category and join the community. (Or just click the link here)

Click the big button that says “Create Proposal”

4. Fill in the “Title” and “Description” that will include the following criteria:
Proposal Reason or Problem Statement: Describe your proposal or a problem that you are trying to solve.
Solution: Describe the solution to the proposal (If applicable)
Cost: Describe the cost breakdown of your proposal
How does it benefit Flunks or CafeteriaDAO? Describe how this proposal will benefit Flunks

If Applicable:
Phases — describe the phases of this proposal, Rome wasn’t built in one day, nor will your proposal. Outline phases 1, 2, and 3 of your proposal and what each phase aims to achieve
Marketing Requirements: describe any marketing the Flunks team needs to push in order for this proposal to be completed
Development requirements: describe any development the Flunks team needs to push in order for this proposal to be completed
Anything Else: If there are any other details, please add them!

5. Set up the voting strategy as follows to make sure your Flunk Fam can vote properly. Please set it as follows:
- Voting Strategy: Balance of NFTs
- Minimum Balance: 1
- Maximum Weight: 9999

This will make your proposal only available to Flunk holders and gives each Flunk owned its own vote. i.e. if you own three (3) Flunks you will put forth three (3) votes toward your decision.

6. Set up the voting choices for your proposal simply so everyone understands if they are voting for or against your proposal. (The specific words don’t matter. Just make it understandable please)

7. Please set the start date of your proposal to be a minimum of three days from the time of its creation, and the end date of the proposal to be at least one week apart from the start date.

For example: If today is 12/02/2022, set the start date to 12/05/2022 and the expiration to be at least 12/12/2022.

This will give everyone adequate time to weigh their options prior to voting, and adequate time to vote on the proposal. Yes, these things take time.

8. Once all these steps are complete make sure everything looks correct and publish your proposal! We would encourage you to share your proposal with everyone in the CafeteriaDAO channel in Discord. This will provide more eyes on each proposal.

There we have it!

CafeteriaDAO — The beginning of Flunks utility

Welcome Flunks Utility, Part One…

CafeteriaDAO Introduction

CafteriaDAO is nearly here! We’ll go over the basics here then dive into the specifics of CafeteriaDAO and what it means for Flunk holders.

CafeteriaDAO is the utility Flunks will receive, for now. Prior to CafeteriaDAO, the Flunks roadmap consisted of clubs. Clubs were set up to provide $25,000 USD for four different community-controlled clubs. The idea was well received, but upon execution, there were issues with the model of clubs and it seemed inevitable that $100,000 USD was going to be wasted with minimal benefit for anyone. CafeteriaDAO will follow a similar ideology to clubs; carrying over the initial $100,000 fund for the community to control.

The Fun Stuff

Like clubs, each Flunk holder will have an opportunity to propose what they would like to happen with a portion of the CafeteriaDAO fund. At your leisure generate some ideas and propose them here on CAST!
This brings us to the next part of CafeteriaDAO. We must vote on proposals! The ideas you and your #FlunkFam generate might be great to some, but there are many people that aren’t too vocal within the Flunks community platforms. For this reason, we will ask that each proposal is open for a minimum of one week to allow everyone adequate time to weigh the options and vote in favour or against each proposal.
Don’t worry about remembering this, it will be mentioned again.

Electing a CafeteriaDAO Committee

The CafeteriaDAO is set up to operate with minimal decisions to be made by the Flunks team, leaving the power in the hands of the community. So why is a CafeteriaDAO Committee necessary?

So you have a great proposal. It costs $95,000 and brings 15 Flunks to Costa Rica for 10 days. It sounds like a good time. Is this possible? Technically, yes. Is it likely to happen? Probably not, each proposal requires a consensus vote from the community. A proposal that benefits the few is not likely to pass. Instead, we want to encourage proposals that benefit the community as a whole and open up avenues to increase the DAO treasury. What would you do with the money to increase the DAO fund from 100k to 200k? Ideas like a spin-off NFT collection built by artists in the community bringing funds back into the DAO or an NFT game built on the blockchain leveraging the Flunks IP. These could work!

By creating a CafeteriaDAO Committee of five highly-trusted Flunks community members each proposal is passed through the committee to ensure it is viable, beneficial and awesome!

Utilizing a MultiSignature Wallet

The treasury will be held on a Gnosis Safe Wallet in the form of USDC on ETH. Gnosis Safe is a multi-signature cryptocurrency wallet that is “owned” by multiple people. Any transaction requires multiple signatures before it is executed on the blockchain. This means decisions are made as a group and secured through the power of Smart Contracts. The CafeteriaDAO Committee can ensure money is put to use without the Flunks team getting involved at all. This wallet would be controlled by the committee, requiring a minimum of three signatures of a possible five to accept a transaction.

CafeteriaDAO Proposal Requirements

Please refer to the article linked here to learn more about CafeteriaDAO proposal requirements and a walkthrough of how to create a proposal.

Proposal Acceptance Requirements

We’re assuming at this point you’ve read the article on how to make a proposal. If this segment is confusing I suggest you go back and take a look at that first.
For a CafeteriaDAO proposal to be accepted and passed to the committee for approval, it must meet both of the following requirements.
— Proposal voting must conclude with votes from 50 or more wallets
— Proposal must receive 55% or more of the total vote count in favour of acceptance to be accepted.

For further clarity, we will break down some examples of what may happen and what the outcome would be.

If a proposal receives votes from 28 individual wallets with a total of 80 Flunks among the wallets, this will not meet the first requirement. Flunks provide extra voting power but do not count toward total wallets.

If a proposal receives votes from 80 wallets and the proposal is voted in favour with 53% of the total votes it will not meet the second requirement. Each proposal requires 55% or more of the total vote count.

What’s Next?

We’re glad you asked. Now that the preliminary info is out in the universe for all to read we can fire up the train to chug out of the station! Here’s the plan:

As mentioned, a new CafeteriaDAO channel has been opened in Discord for all Flunk holders to use for generating ideas and discussing the best ways to use the CafeteriaDAO funds.

The CafeteriaDAO Committee needs to be established. The Flunks team will make up one of the five members of the committee leaving us with four more individuals to be added to the committee. If you would like to volunteer to be on the CafeteriaDAO committee please submit your information in the form here. The form will be open until 4:00 pm PST, December 15th, 2022. At the time of its closure, we will sift through the submissions to create a list of individuals to be voted on by you, the community, to create the committee.

Once the CafeteriaDAO is elected and vetted, each member will be sent a Ledger from the Flunks team and added to a Gnosis Safe that is funded with the CafeteriaDAO treasury.

Last step, let’s have some fun!

Some criteria may be subject to change. This is dependent on how well the current structure works for the community.

CafeteriaDAO — The beginning of Flunks utility was originally published in Flunks on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Zeero — Flow’s First “No Fee” Marketplace

This article will inform you of all you need to know about Zeero.

Zeero — An Introduction

Zeero is a new digital collectible marketplace coming to the Flow blockchain. As we await approval for listing and purchasing Dapper collectibles on Zeero, we want to give you all the info you’ll need for the full launch!
Zeero will be the first marketplace on Flow that has no marketplace fees. Like any marketplace, there will still be creator royalties to pay, but that value is up to each individual or project to decide.
With the creation of Zeero we want to allow you to buy and sell your favourite digital collectibles at the lowest cost possible, and with ease of mind.

Mission statement

“A marketplace for the people by the people.” Our goal is to build a marketplace with the premium features you want while maintaining low costs for you to maximize your potential. As a marketplace that is “for the people” we also want to empower creators both big and small. Our end goal is to offer a better alternative for digital creators to host their collections on Flow, including individual collections and generative collections supporting different file formats from 3D models to iFrames to MP4s.

Tips

Zeero operates with technology infrastructure costs. As we do not charge a marketplace fee, we have added a tipping feature that allows sellers to tip the marketplace. When using Zeero the seller will be given the option to add a marketplace tip to the transaction. Tips can be applied by a percentage of the sale price, the seller is given default options and a custom tip percentage. The maximum tip percentage we accept is 50%.

Dapper Service Charge

Zeero provides Flow with a low-cost marketplace. We don’t charge marketplace fees, but there is a small flat fixed service charge of $0.50 cost to the seller. This is known as a “Dapper Service Charge” and is paid to cover an industry-standard processing fee that is incurred by Dapper Labs directly.

How The Marketplace Powered by The Flunks Team Ties Back to Flunks

In August a Flunk marketplace named Flunk-E-Mart was set to launch. This marketplace would host Flunks and Flunk Backpacks. Various complications lead to the delay of this marketplace and ultimately lead to the creation of Zeero. The team took some time to rework the marketplace in this time and rebrand it.
“How will Flunk-E-Mart benefit Flunk holders now?”
The same way it always was planned to. The original plan was to host Flunk listings, rarities and backpack status all in one place. The launch of Zeero will allow you to do this with Flunks; and hopefully more projects in the near future. We want to create a marketplace that allows you to buy and sell your favourite digital collectibles easier, and with more tools to assist you, the user. There will be a finite amount of features Zeero has on launch, but we will look to add more features over time to make Zeero even easier to use.

We’re not done with Flunks… Additional funds from marketplace tips will go back to the Flunks CafeteriaDAO. This can be accessed by holding a Flunk.

CafeteriaDAO

CafeteriaDAO is part one of the Flunk clubs revamp. CafeteriaDAO will follow a similar format to the old structure of Flunk Clubs but with one main difference. There are no clubs.
CafeteriaDAO will replace clubs as one entity for all Flunks to contribute towards. CafeteriaDAO will be funded with $100,000 from the Flunks team for Flunk holders to use. Misfits, make the CafeteriaDAO yours! Brainstorm what you’d like to see happen first in the CafeteriaDAO.

More details on CafeteriaDAO soon…

Find all the latest info on Zeero on Twitter and start exploring Zeero now!

*The Dapper Service Charge amount is out of the control of Zeero. The service charge may change through the discretion of Dapper Wallet.*

Zeero — Flow’s First “No Fee” Marketplace was originally published in Flunks on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

These basics won’t be covered in depth here so we’ll summarize to make things quicker. If you’d like to read the first backpack article you can find it here. Onto the summary!

Flunks Backpacks reveal on August 16th, 7 pm PDT.

Every Flunk was eligible to claim a backpack from August 1st and on.

There is no deadline to claim a backpack.

Once a backpack is claimed that Flunk will no longer have a claimable backpack.

Backpacks and Flunks are separate NFTs and are not bound to each other.

When purchasing a Flunk you can check its backpack claim status at flunks.io.

Each backpack is customizable with patches, pins, and backgrounds.

Each backpack has a set number of slots that patches and pins can be placed on. This number of slots ranges from 5 to 20. (Slots can be increased over time) The rarer the Flunk, the more slots its backpack will have.

The number of slots a backpack has is determined by its parent Flunk.

Flunk Backpacks will be available to list and purchase on the Flunks marketplace, Flunk-E-Mart. (Coming August 29th)

Backpack Traits

When in school it wasn’t common to see all your friends and classmates rocking the same backpack. Sure, there were similar styles and designs, but identical backpacks were hard to come by. (unless you were one of the COOL kids) Flunk Backpacks follow that same concept. Surely your Flunk will be donning a satchel of the same style with a few classmates, but no two backpacks are alike.

There are 40 different backpack bases.

Backpack leaks have been released on a regular basis since they were initially teased, but less than half have actually been seen. Each backpack base is used more than once, but there are 12 backpacks that are more unique than the others. These 12 backpack bases only make up 225 of the 9,999 backpacks. That’s just over 2% of the entire collection!

Each backpack has between 1 and 4 parts that vary in colour/pattern

Just like any good product, backpacks come in different colours. How about a blue teddy bear backpack, with pink paws and heart stitching on its ears? That’s a possible combination!

Each backpack trait can be made up of 27 different colour combinations.

This won’t be the most straightforward thing, but allow me to explain the trait directory. When counting each colour you will notice that “the math is wrong”, and there are 50 different colours in the directory. You’re correct, however, each word you read on the directory is its own trait type. As an example, the word stone is written as one of the traits, but it has three different shades of grey above it. We want the navigation of traits to be simple while keeping a large variety of traits available.

Backpacks have their own rarities

Plain and simple, the solid colours (Plain) are the most common traits. As we work down the directory to Holy Grails, each layer is rarer.
The Plain traits are the most common with a 4 in 7 chance (57.1%) of appearing in one trait slot.
The Pattern traits are the 2nd most common traits with a 2 in 7 (28.6%) chance of appearing in one trait slot.
The Gradient traits are the rarest traits with a 1 in 7 (14.3%) chance of appearing in one trait slot. (Aside from the Holy Grails. There are exactly five Holy Grail backpacks)

There are over 78,000 possible backpack combinations!

As mentioned above each backpack has different trait slots varying in colour or pattern. The more traits a backpack has, the higher the possible combinations it will have.

Flunks High — Club Info

Class is in session, backpacks are here, and clubs are near!

There’s a lot to look forward to if you’re a Flunk holder! Backpacks are claimable on August 1st, and club details are here! Literally, they’re right here below all this introductory filler info that you don’t really care to read. Scroll down a little and read about everything you DO care to read!

The Basics

Flunks High will be funding four separate clubs for the school year, with $100,000 being split among them. Every Flunk is eligible to be a part of a club. The benefits and activities associated with each club will also be per Flunk. Therefore if you own four Flunks you can be a part of each of the four clubs. As clubs are community-driven, decisions must be made on what happens within each club. Every Misfit is entitled to their own opinion, but when it comes to decision-making, your Flunks have a say too. When voting in ideas for clubs each Flunk that an individual holds will be an additional vote for their respective decision. Whales should enjoy this…

If you didn’t know, each Misfit that owns eight or more Flunks will become a whale! Whales have access to additional Discord channels and their own funding! This threshold will be increasing soon…

Back to clubs. When clubs for the school year are decided there will be many more decisions to make. The first one you’ll have to make is club selection. We know it will be tough to pick between the clubs for some. For this reason (and many more, actually) a club's lifetime will be split into three time periods. The first will begin when clubs are official and ready to go. Every Misfit will have a week to decide which club(s) they would like to join. Once this week is up you will be locked into your club and anyone that did not select a club will have to sit on the sidelines. Once the first period ends users will be able to leave their current clubs and join new ones. Anyone that did not select a club or purchased a Flunk during the first period will be eligible to join a club during the one-week grace period following the conclusion of the first period. After this week is up clubs are locked in again. Rinse and repeat for period 3.

If you aren’t satisfied with your club, or you missed the cutoff, you will be able to be a part of any chatroom of any one of the four clubs you select. Essentially you will be a visitor of that club. This will allow users to test out different clubs and be a part of the atmosphere without actually receiving the benefits of these clubs. Splitting these clubs into three time periods will also allow for the $25,000 each club receives to last the duration of the school year and not be blown in the first week of its life.

Okay! It was long, but those are the basics of clubs. The Flunk team is happy to answer any and all of your club questions on Discord.

The Clubs!

Over the month of August, each of these club suggestions will be put to the test by the Misfits. Eight club options are here for you to pick and choose between. Every week one of these eight clubs will be eliminated and sent home empty-handed. Actually, they’ll just be deleted from the spreadsheet…
By the end of the month, four clubs will remain! Without further ado, the contestants:

VICE Club

The club of all things you wish you didn’t love. Poker, blackjack, craps and betting. This is the place to be on those weekend nights to have some fun!
Vote for VICE club!

Flunk Athletic Association (F.A.A)

Fantasy sports is getting started again. Football, the other football, MMA and basketball are just some things this club might include. Vote for Flunks Athletic Association! It will surely meet your sports club needs.

Cash Money Gang

Everyone likes to make a buck. The Cash Money Gang can be your place to chat crypto and stocks. Maybe some collectors will lead the C.M.G into a collecting club. Some learning may be done here instead, but that’s up to the gang to decide. Show everyone your analytical skills or learn from your peers. Vote Cash Money Gang!

Aviation Squad

Not all Flunks have aviators to look cool. Some have the dream of flying around the world! The Aviation Squad aims to do just that for a few Misfits. Got your sights set on seeing the Grand Canyon? Maybe Europe? Vote for Aviation Squad and you might just be there!

Flunk Records

Music makes the world go ‘round. Producers, vocalists and music fans, in general, can get behind this one! Need a new microphone? Portable speaker? Maybe a guitar! Create some sick playlists, make some music, and discover new artists here along the way! There are many paths Flunk Records can travel. Make an impact on it, vote Flunk Records!

Media Mosh Pit

Jack DEFINITELY had room on that door!
Sorry, this is just an example of a discussion I envision happening in this club. Welcome, Media Mosh Pit, the place where entertainment lives and boredom dies. Movie nights, video game tournaments, and Valorant watch parties are just a few examples of what can take place in this club. There are many possibilities for the Media Mosh Pit to explore. Are movies playing 24/7? Weekly video game tournaments? Tickets to the next Marvel movie for The Pit? Join in and make decisions, Vote for Media Mosh Pit!

The Flunk Spa

Let’s get some cardio in, cook some nice meals, and chat about life! Self-improvement can be the goal here for you, or the spa can simply be a place to share your favourite recipes. Maybe it’s so great you’ve won dinner for two! Cooking doesn’t have to be your forte. Come on in and chat about life instead. We’re all ears. Love yourself and the people around you. This could easily be the motto of the Flunk Spa. Or not… That’s for the spa to decide. Vote for The Flunk Spa!

Creative Corner

Photographers, artists and comic lovers rejoice! The creative corner is your home away from home. Well, I guess you’ll probably be accessing it from home, but you get the point.
Share your favourite painting, drawing and photograph. Display your first comic, or create your first with the help of an artist! The best entries of your first initiative could receive a gift card to pick up new supplies, or a Photoshop subscription for the year. Show your creative side. Vote for Creative Corner!

To vote for any of the clubs listed above keep an eye on The Intercom in the Flunks Discord server. New ballots will open each week. See you around the halls!

Flunks High — Club Info was originally published in Flunks on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Mornings were spent watching the clock tick until it struck noon and it was time for lunch! Of course, this was only a short break before we all headed back to class. Whether it’s algebra, history, or biology, there was something to bring to each class.
If only there was something we could use to bring our gym clothes, lunch, books, pencils, erasers, and everything else to school and back…
There is! Backpacks!

As the Flunk High school year is set to start soon, the Flunks are anxiously awaiting to see what backpack they’ll receive. Maybe a duffel bag? A reusable shopping bag? How about a potato sack? This article will cover the details you need to know before backpacks airdrop to each Flunk before school starts.

What are backpacks?

Backpacks are NFTs that each Flunk will receive via airdrop at the end of July. These backpacks will be airdropped at random to every Flunk. It’s worth noting that we say every Flunk because we want to be clear that this won’t limit holders with multiple Flunks. If you have 10 Flunks you’ll receive 10 backpacks. If you have 3 Flunks you’ll receive 3 backpacks. You get the idea.

The purpose of a backpack

Aside from your usual book bag carrier, there are many things backpacks can do for Flunks. There’s a lot to cover so we’ll take it one point at a time.
First, backpacks will be customizable — to an extent. The backpack your Flunk receives will not be alterable itself but it will be customizable through patches and badges.

Patches, badges, and slots?

Yes! Every backpack will have spaces you can add different patches or badges to make it look the way you want. To start, every backpack that is airdropped will contain a pack of patches. This pack will contain various patches and badges that will vary in design and size. This will only be a pack of three for now, but remember, this is just the start.
Now, back to the slots. There aren’t many limitations on where you can place a patch, but there is a limit on how many patches can be placed on a backpack. (It still needs to resemble a backpack at the end of the day…)
Each backpack will have anywhere from 5 to 20 slots for these patches.

Want more backpack slots?

Backpack slots will not be set in stone. There will be ways to increase the number of slots a backpack has. (No, you still can’t have more than 20 slots)
Number one. Staking! If you’ve been around for a little while you’ll know what this is. Set your backpack away for a bit and bring it back with more slots! (Sorry, your Flunk will have to carry their books for a little while, but they’ll thank you for it.) We’ll cover more on staking in a later article.

Additional backpacks and patches

So, maybe you’re not a fan of the backpack received, you just want a fresh look, or you want to fill up your backpack with patches! We can help with that. Throughout the year there will be many ways to acquire these fresh assets. Wheel of Flunkstune pack giveaway? Sure! Finished 3rd in a game of Flunks poker? Have a patch! Christmas is around the corner? Airdropped goodies! There will be many ways we implement more patches, badges, and backpacks. Whether it’s a giveaway or a fresh pack on the marketplace, we want to give you the ability to make your Flunk look FRESH.

Where will I find these new NFTs?

Aha! The big question... When these backpacks are airdropped we will have a brand new section of the website called The Lockerroom. Here you will find all your backpacks, patches, and badges. In The Lockerroom is where you will be an artist for your Flunk and place those patches ALL OVER your backpacks. Move over Cafeteria, there’s a new place in town! (well, maybe you should still chat in there)

I don’t like my backpack…

Misfits… Well, we expected this. It won’t be available from day one, but backpacks, badges, and pins will be tradeable and available on the marketplace. Just like trading snacks and lunches at school, you’ll be able to trade your patches and backpacks.

All the extra bits of info

All badges and patches you own may be placed on any of your backpacks.

Badges and patches may only be used on one backpack at a time.

Badges and patches may be removed from backpacks.

Backpacks will not appear on your Flunk, but we are working to build a photography room where you will be able to download an image of your Flunk with its backpack.

There’s a lot to read here, and more to come as well. You’ll probably have questions. Join our Discord and pop into the cafeteria and give us a shout!

Backpacks!
