*2026 UPDATE* 201 Pacifica! is a sample-based 6-voice polyphonic vibraphone patch for Critter & Guitari’s 201 Pocket Piano. This patch leverages round-robin sample selection for realistic articulation and integrates motor modulation, emulating the acoustic characteristics of a classic vibraphone.
Paradoxically, thanks to the round-robin sample selection, we now have a more natural sound, but we’re also venturing into some unnatural territory, since it’s now possible to play outside the F2–F5 range and utilize the full range of the 201 Pocket Piano.
Controls:
1. Shape: Motor/Tremolo Speed (0 – 12 hz)
2. Tone: Attack
3. Surprise: Release
Attention! Please keep in mind that the boot time from Pocket Piano 201 takes a bit longer, because the vibraphone samples are loaded into the memory and not executed from the SD card – this allows among other things a faster playing without latency issues.
Installation:
Replace the “X” with a number from 1-6 of your choice etc. –> please refer to Chapter 7.3 of the PP manual: https://www.critterandguitari.com/manual?m=201_Pocket_Piano_Manual#73-changing-patterns-and-modes
Changelog:
0.1 Initial release
0.2 Fixed the “disappearing notes” bug – thanks Owen Osborn for making me aware!
0.3 Fixed note retriggering issue that occurred when a note was held for a longer time – thanks sgotb! Simplified filter ramp. Renamed patch to “201 Pacifica!” to avoid confusion with the Organelle patch.
0.4 Improved envelope, revised some comments
0.5 Fixed a bang order issue in sample-voice.pd which caused playback issues with mother-in-law
0.6 Added round-robin sample selection
Thanks for the video, Critter & Guitari!
