My name's Maxine Lee-Mackie, an illustrator from Liverpool, UK. Last year I created a graphic novel 'The Ghost in the Window' and ran a successful Kickstarter campaign and since then I've been busy creating and selling prints online as an independent creative, as well as illustrating children's books as a freelancer. My clients include Ladybird, Disney, Macmillan US, Simon and Schuster, Hodder, Walker Books and Quarto. The next title you can expect to see with my name on it is in the Little People, Big Dreams series - Hans Christian Andersen - in April 2021. I'm not a one-style-woman when it comes to my work - I like to work in a way that suits the project, so I do lots of experimental work both digitally and with traditional media. I also take lots of online courses as I'm a big believer in continuing development as an artist. This tier is for sketchbook work and posts about my process - I'll share how I use my sketchbooks to feed into client work, talk about techniques and compositions and how I approach pitches. A lot of the time, sketchbook research/experimentation is how I chill out and get myself away from the screen, it's a little bit of mindfulness, deep breathing and creativity rolled into one.This level is also for anyone who wants to learn more about the day to day  freelance illustration life.
