How does it work?

1. Brands set up products and packages in Metrc as usual, selecting the package for labeling with “Test Passed” results.
2. Brands select their preferred option, download serialized labels, print and affix labels to each item and repackage using current transfer process.
3. Distributors seamlessly move product through the supply chain without additional scanning.
4. Retailers receive package(s) in Metrc, scanning each Metrc package with Retail ID codes to complete transfer and check out, syncing QR codes with Dutchie POS inventory.
5. Consumers can scan QR codes for product information, certificates of analysis (COAs), ingredients, and more.

How retailers leverage Metrc Retail ID with Dutchie

Metrc Retail ID integrates seamlessly with Dutchie Backoffice and Dutchie Register, offering a more efficient workflow.

Receiving Inventory

When you select a pending transfer, Dutchie POS automatically fetches the QR IDs from Metrc and makes them scannable in the Register. To receive inventory with QR codes:

1. Navigate to Inventory: In Dutchie Backoffice, go to Products > Inventory.
2. Initiate Receive: Click the Receive Inventory button.
3. Select Manifest: Choose the relevant manifest from the Pending transfers dropdown.
4. Identify retail ID packages: In the "Items received" section, items with a QR code icon next to the package indicate the package has Retail IDs.
5. Complete Receiving: Once all items are scanned and show a green checkmark, click Receive.

Scanning QR Codes at the register

Metrc Retail ID streamlines the checkout process, making it quicker and more accurate for budtenders.

When using Retail ID, Dutchie automatically sends the QR ID to Metrc upon sale completion, ensuring real-time compliance reporting.

1. Select Customer: Select the customer's card from the Guestlist page.
2. Add Items to Cart: Scan each Metrc QR code (or a barcode printed from Dutchie POS if needed) to add items to the customer's cart.
3. Complete Transaction: Tap the Checkout button and finalize the transaction as you normally would.

What Dutchie retailers need to do

To enable and fully utilize Metrc Retail ID in your Dutchie operations, follow these setup steps:

Enable Metrc Retail ID in Dutchie

1. Go to Settings > Integrations > Metrc > Settings.
2. Set Use Retail ID to Yes.
3. Click Save.

After enabling Retail ID, fetch Retail IDs for your existing inventory. See Manage retail IDs in Dutchie.

Required permissions in Dutchie

Users must have these permissions in Dutchie to work with Retail IDs:

1. In the Dutchie Backoffice, navigate to Settings > Users.
2. Select a user or permission group.
3. Under Inventory > Retail ID, enable the following permissions:
   • Generate Retail IDs – Allows user to create Retail IDs in Metrc (typically a supplier's responsibility, but may be necessary in some cases for retailers)
   • Print Retail IDs – Allows user to print labels with Retail ID QR codes (typically a supplier's responsibility, but may be necessary in some cases for retailers)
   • View Retail IDs – Allows user to see associated Retail IDs for packages 
   • Fetch Retail IDs – Allows user to manually pull Retail IDs from Metrc

Required permissions in Metrc

Users must have these permissions in Metrc to work with Retail IDs:

1. In Metrc, navigate to Admin > Employees.
2. Select an employee responsible for managing inventory.
3. Set each of the following permissions to Manage:
   • Packages Page: Product Labels
   • Transfers Menu: Licensed & External
   • Transfers Menu: Templates
4. Save changes and repeat for each additional employee who manages inventory.
5. From Admin > Employees, select the employee whose API key is used as the main key for the Dutchie/Metrc integration and set the Admin Menu: Employees permission to Manage.
6. Save changes.

7. Generate a new API key and enter it into Dutchie for each employee with updated permissions.

Acquire a 2D Scanner

A 2D scanner is required for scanning QR codes. Dutchie recommends the following scanners:

• Zebra H-6672 (2D, wired only)
• Zebra DS2208
• Zebra CS6080
• Zebra CR6080
• Zebra DS2278 2D Barcode Scanner

Manage retail IDs in Dutchie

Here's an overview of the actions dispensaries can take to manage retail IDs in their Dutchie inventory:

QR code icons

QR icons appear in various places in Dutchie Backoffice to help you identify packages that have Retail IDs:

• On the Inventory page, click the cog wheel to enable a Retail ID column which will show a QR icon for each package that has Retail IDs. This column is sortable so you can group Retail ID packages together.
  
• On the Inventory page, you can also click the More filters button and toggle Show only packages with retail ID.
  
• On package detail pages, a package that has Retail IDs will have a QR code icon next to its product name. 
  

Scan to search

Scan a Retail ID QR code to search for it in the Inventory table.

Check QR codes

The Check QR codes option to the Actions' dropdown in inventory prompts users to scan any Retail ID QR code. 

Successful scan: If the QR code belongs to one of our package groups, it will display in a table on the modal with additional options to “scan another”, “open package details”, or “preview Metrc ID”.

Failed scan: If the QR code DOES NOT belong to one of our package groups, users will be given troubleshooting steps. If you click “Preview Metrc ID” and it belongs to a package that has not been received, contact the supplier for guidance to send it back or adjust the package.  

Manage retail IDs - Generate, Print, View, and Fetch

You can generate retail IDs, print QR code labels, view retail IDs associated with a Metrc package, or fetch retail IDs from Metrc from the Manage retail IDs screen:

1. Go to Products > Inventory.
2. Click the ellipsis (...) next to a package and select Manage Retail IDs.
   
   Or, use the checkboxes to select multiple packages, then select bulk Actions > Manage retail IDs.
   
3. You'll then see four options: Generate Retail ID, Print Retail ID labels, View Retail IDs, and Fetch Retail IDs
   

Generate Retail IDs

Print Retail ID labels

Though dispensaries/retailers have the ability to print retail IDs in Dutchie, this is primarily a feature for suppliers. If any items you received from a supplier have damaged or missing QR codes, we generally recommend asking the supplier to provide labels instead of printing them yourself, as you won't be able to easily identify which unique QR code to reprint.

Each Retail ID QR code label is unique. If a customer buys two of the same product, budtenders must scan each one individually. Do not reuse or rescan QR code labels on multiple units of a product.

1. From the Manage Retail IDs screen, select Print Retail ID labels and click Next.
   
2. Under Printer settings, select a Label. Make sure the label template has the Inventory | Retail ID QR code field.
3. Select a Printer.
4. Fill in the Qty To Print field for each package. Note that you can't print more labels than the specified amount in the Existing QR IDs column
5. Click Print labels.
   

View Retail IDs

From the Manage Retail IDs screen, select View Retail IDs and click Next.

This will show all sold retail IDs associated with the package you selected, along with the last printed date, sold date, and receipt number (if the item's QR code was scanned to ring it up).

Fetch Retail IDs

If retail IDs have already been generated in Metrc for your selected package(s), fetch the existing retail IDs and pull them into your Dutchie inventory instead of generating new retail IDs. Use this option to pull in retail IDs after enabling Retail ID in Dutchie, or if a supplier generated more QR codes in Metrc after you received the package in Dutchie.

1. From the Manage Retail IDs screen, select Fetch Retail IDs and click Next.
2. A confirmation message will show the number of retail IDs successfully fetched for each package.

FAQs

Am I required to scan the Retail ID on the package at the Register? 

No, scanning Retail IDs to transact is not a compliance requirement. You can still scan the main Metrc tag or internal barcode instead the Retail ID QR code.

Why is it recommended to scan the Retail ID? 

When you scan the Retail ID QR code at the Register, Dutchie will send the associated ID in the sales data to Metrc, and will capture the sold date and receipt number of the sale that you can review on the inventory package. 

To review sold dates and receipt numbers: 

1. Look up the package in Products > Inventory. 

2. Click the ellipsis (...) next to the package and select Manage Retail IDs.

3. Select View Retail IDs, which shows columns for sold dates and receipt numbers.

Items added to carts and sold without scanning the Retail ID QR code will not be reflected in View Retail IDs.

Why do I get errors when scanning the QR code in a cart?

Enabling Retail ID in Dutchie does not automatically fetch existing Retail IDs from Metrc. Go through your existing inventory and fetch existing Retail IDs before attempting to scan QR codes into a cart. You can fetch in bulk by selecting multiple packages, then Bulk actions > Manage Retail IDs > Fetch Retail IDs.

How do I process returns for Retail ID products?

You can process returns for Retail ID products using the standard returns workflow. Scanning the original Retail ID QR code is no longer required for returns.

Introduction

Dutchie POS offers robus Loyalty & Marketing features designed to help dispensaries create targeted marketing campaigns, manage customer segments, and implement effective loyalty and discount programs. By leveraging these tools, you can enhance customer engagement, encourage repeat business, and boost overall sales.

Creating customer segments

Customer segmentation allows you to group customers based on shared behaviors and characteristics, enabling personalized marketing efforts through campaigns, loyalty, and discounts, see Use customer segments with Dutchie POS Loyalty & Marketing Pro.

Steps to Create a Customer Segment

1. In Dutchie Backoffice, go to Customers > Segments.
2. Click on Create Segment and enter a descriptive name for your segment.
3. Define segment criteria:
   • In the Add customers who meet the following conditions section, set the parameters that define your segment (e.g., customers with a last purchase date over 30 days ago for a "Win-Back" campaign).
4. Click Save to create the segment.

Note: Dutchie provides 11 default segments for common scenarios, which can be customized to fit your needs.

Analytics

Monitor your segment performance by viewing metrics such as average order value, total spend, segment demographics, and more by opening the segment.

Other notable segments

Outside of the 11 default segments, you can create below or some notable segments you can create and leverage at your store:  

Senior segment 

Benefits: Target any customer above the age of 55 with campaigns, discounts, or loyalty.

Locals segment 

Benefits: Target customers that reside in surrounding zip codes with campaigns, discounts, or loyalty. 

Win back first-time shopper 

Benefits: Target customers who processed their first transaction before a specified date to win back their business and loyalty. 

Discount lover 

Benefits: Target customers that use discounts regularly at your dispensary.

Customer spend segments 

Benefits: Target customer that have spent a certain dollar amount in a threshold of time. 

Building marketing campaigns

With the Campaign feature, you can design, schedule, and send targeted email marketing campaigns to your customer segments or entire customer base. Note that you can set up permissions around who can build, view, and send campaigns at your store, see Dutchie POS marketing and loyalty campaign builders and analytics.

Steps to Build an Email Campaign:

1. Go to Marketing > Campaigns in Dutchie Back Office.
2. Create a New Campaign:
   • Click on Create Campaign.
3. Campaign Setup:
   • Enter the campaign name.
   • Select the recipient segment.
   • Provide email details, including subject line, preview text, and sender reply email address.
4. Choose a Template:
   • Select a curated template or start from scratch.
5. Build the Email:
   • Use the drag-and-drop email editor to design your email. You can add:
     • Text to communicate your message.
     • Images to make the email visually engaging.
     • Buttons for calls to action (e.g., "Shop Now").
6. Review and Send:
   • Review your email content.
   • Click Schedule send to choose a send time or send immediately.

Analytics:

After sending, monitor your campaign's performance by viewing metrics such as open rates, click-through rates, sales generated, and more by opening the segment.

• Go to Customers > Campaigns.
• Select the campaign you want to see. 
  Note: Sent campaigns are indicated as ‘Sent’.
• On the Overview tab, access campaign insights.

Set up discounts for segments and campaigns 

Dutchie’s Discounts feature makes it easy for dispensaries to create targeted promotions that boost sales and reward customers. With flexible settings for eligibility, rewards, and scheduling, you can quickly set up, test, and launch discounts for campaigns and segments. 

Access Discounts

• Navigate to Marketing > Discounts in Dutchie Back Office.

Create a New Discount

• Click “Create Discount” to start a new discount.

Discount Setup

• Configure discount details and how the discount will be applied.
• Define eligibility customer criteria, duration, and application method.
• Set conditions or filters to determine who qualifies.
• Choose the reward type for your customers.
• Enter online display details for consumer visibility.
• Review and confirm the summary before publishing.
• Test your discount to ensure proper configuration.

Loyalty programs for segments and campaigns 

Dutchie POS supports two types of loyalty programs: Loyalty as Cash and Loyalty as a Discount. 

Configure Loyalty 

• Determine what type of loyalty program you would like to offer to your customers Loyalty as Cash or Loyalty as a Discount.
• See Set up a Dutchie POS loyalty program for configuration steps.

Build Loyalty Campaign 

• Create a campaign for your loyalty customers, creating long-term brand engagement for your entire customer base or specified segments.

Build Loyalty as a Discount 

• If you are using Dutchie Loyalty as a Discount, these discounts can be configured and used in your marketing campaigns.

View Loyalty Points Online 

• Your customers can now view their loyalty points when they log into your online menu!
• Create a campaign to encourage your customers to see how many points they have accumulated on your online menu.

Things to know

• This requires the View Multi-Location Sales Reports user permission found in the POS section.
• The sales summary and overview can both be exported to a .CSV file using the Export button. 

Overview

Go to Reports > Sales > Overview to:

• See how different payment types are used at your store.
• Show all of your stores' sales data in one place.
• View and export reports to see a summary of data from multiple time periods including yesterday, last week, last month, the latest quarter, or a custom date range.
• Track financial data for all of your locations from one view.

Multi-location reporting 

Use the Location dropdown to select one or more locations:

Sales summary

The top section shows a Sales summary for all selected locations, including: 

• Gross sales
• Discounted amount
• Returned amount
• Net sales
• Tax amount
• Fees/donations
• Total income

Click View report to see a location-specific breakdown and additional information including tip and loyalty as payment totals.

Sales breakdown 

Scroll down to the Sales breakdown section, where you can view gross sales, net sales, or total income broken down by:

• Payment type (cash, Pay by Bank, etc.)
• Customer type (medical, recreational, etc.)
• Product master category (flower, edibles, concentrates, etc.)
• Order source (walk-in, Dutchie E-Commerce, third-party menu integrations, etc.)
• Order type (in-store, delivery, etc.)

Hover your cursor over any total to highlight it in the chart, and click to view further details and a location-specific breakdown.

Things to consider

• Check your state and local regulations about what, if any, automatic rounding of transaction totals or change due is allowed. Dutchie provides several options to support different rules in different areas.
• Be sure to select only one of the options described below. Enabling multiple rounding settings could result in unexpected rounding in the Register.
• If you have enabled the Only Discount Cannabis Items to a minimum of $0.01 setting (in the Point of Sale section), there is an additional setting to enable in the Rounding section to ensure your rounding setting does not allow for a $0.00 transaction total.
• Dutchie support can configure your registers to round by larger increments including quarters or dollars. See Additional rounding options below.

Rounding settings and how they work

In the Backoffice, go to Settings > Location and scroll to the Rounding section. 

Select one of the following settings and click Save.

Require $0.01 minimum when rounding is enabled

This option prevents transaction totals from being rounded to $0.00 when one of the above rounding settings is enabled.

Make sure you also have Only Discount Cannabis Items to a minimum of $0.01 (in the Point of Sale section of the Location Settings page) to prevent rounding down to $0.00.

How it looks in the Register

If you enable one of the settings that rounds the transaction total, the rounding is reflected in the order total before selecting Checkout.

If you enable one of the settings that rounds the change due, the rounding reflected after you apply payments.

Reporting

If you enable one of the settings that rounds the transaction total, the total amount rounded appears in the Closing report in the Income summary section as Rounding.

If you enable one of the settings that rounds the change due, the total amount rounded appears in the Closing report in the Payment summary section as Cash Returned Rounding.

Workflows can be built around specific customer actions like products added to cart, post purchase, new customer, and more. Once the workflow is built, messages are automated and responsive to customer behavior.

To create a campaign workflow, go to Marketing > Workflows:

1. Click Create workflow.
2. Enter a Campaign name and click Next.
3. Build your Trigger by selecting and Event, Segment, and Time of day to send. 
   Example: In a workflow to win back a dormant shopper, your trigger can be built with the win back customer segment.
4. Click the plus + button on the workflow to add an Action.
5. Select the type of Action, such as Send email. Enter a Subject and Preview text in the applicable fields.
6. Click Open editor to build your email. 
   Note: Templates make is easy to build out an email.
7. Click Close editor to add Conditions, Time delays, and further actions to your email as needed.
8. Click Activate workflow to activate your campaigns and start sending messages to customers that trigger these events. 

Building workflows with limitations

There is no limit on the amount of workflows you can create in the Backoffice, however there are limitations around nodes, conditions, and time delays. Limitations are as follows: 

• No more than 10 nodes.
• No more than 10 conditions.
• No more than 90 days worth of delays down any given path.
• No more than 4 messages down any one given path.

Troubleshooting: Workflow Emails Showing as "Interrupted"

If a workflow includes a time delay, the customer must stay in the triggering segment for the entire delay period. If they fall out of the segment before the delay completes, the email is canceled and marked as "interrupted."

To prevent this

- Widen your segment window so it's longer than the total workflow duration (e.g., "first purchase date in the last 14 days" instead of "last 1 day")
- Or use the built-in "New Customer" workflow trigger, which fires on the first purchase event and doesn't depend on ongoing segment membership

Once you register your community, which represents your location, you and your team will receive an email to register and create accounts. Emails will also communicate to your teams that there is coursework they need to take and notify them as deadlines for training approach.

How to sign up

If you have an existing Seed Talent account, or are new to the Seed Talent platform: Follow these steps to sign up and gain access to Dutchie learning material at no additional charge for you. 

Please ensure the requestor is a Manager, if you are part of retail staff and unsure of access, please speak with your manager and field this help center article to them!

2. For existing Seed Talent customers: Seed Talent will get Dutchie Content added to your account once the form is completed

Creating an Organization Apple Developer Account for your organization allows you to publish apps on the App Store under your company's name and leverage features essential for business app development. This article provides a step-by-step guide on creating your account to publish apps on the App Store.

Prerequisites

Collect and prepare the following information:

1. Apple ID with Two-factor authentication:
   • If you don't have one, create a new Apple ID. It's highly recommended to use an email address associated with your company's domain (e.g., info@yourcompany.com) that multiple people can access.
   • Ensure Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is enabled for this Apple ID.
2. D-U-N-S® number:
   • Your organization must have a D-U-N-S Number. This is a unique 9-digit number assigned by Dun & Bradstreet, used by Apple to verify your organization's identity and legal status.
   • If you don't have one, you can look it up or request one for free on Dun & Bradstreet's website (Check your organization’s D-U-N-S® Number). Receiving timelines vary, so it's best to apply early.
3. Legal entity status:
   • To enroll in a developer program, your organization must be a legal entity so that it can enter into legal agreements with Apple. We do not accept DBAs, fictitious businesses, trade names, or branches. The legal entity name must correspond with the tax ID you plan to use and will appear on your product page for apps you may distribute on the App Store and Mac App Store. Example: Seller: ABC Company, Inc.
4. Legal binding authority:
   • As the person enrolling, you must have the legal authority to bind your organization to legal agreements with Apple. This usually means being the owner/founder, an executive team member, a senior project lead, or an employee with explicit legal authority granted by a senior employee.
5. Company website:
   • Your organization's website must be publicly available, and the domain name must be associated with your organization.
6. Headquarters phone number:
   • A valid phone number where Apple can reach your organization for verification.
7. Payment method:
   • The annual fee for the Apple Developer Program is currently $99 USD (prices may vary by region).

By following these steps, you can successfully create an Organization Apple Developer account and begin your journey of developing and distributing apps for Apple platforms. Part 1: Create or Prepare Your Apple ID

1. Go to the Apple ID creation page. If you don't have an Apple ID, you can create one on the Create your account page.
2. Fill out the form. Use your company email address. This will be your new Apple ID.
3. Verify your email. A 6-digit verification code will be sent to your email. Enter this code to complete your Apple ID creation.
4. Enable Two-Factor Authentication. If not already enabled, ensure 2FA is turned on for this Apple ID. This is a mandatory security requirement.

Part 2: Enroll in the Apple Developer Program

1. Go to the Apple Developer Program Enrollment page. Visit https://developer.apple.com/programs/enroll/.
2. Click Start Your Enrollment.
3. Sign in with your Apple ID. Use the Apple ID you created or prepared in Part 1.
4. Agree to the Apple Developer Agreement. Read the terms and conditions carefully, then click Submit.
5. Select Entity Type. On the welcome page, click Join the Apple Developer Program, then Enroll.
6. In the I develop apps as field, select Company/Organization as your Entity Type. Click Continue.
   
7. Enter Organization Information:
   • Legal Entity Name: Enter your company's full legal name exactly as it appears in your official registration documents (including Inc., Corp., LLC, etc.).
   • D-U-N-S® Number: Enter your organization's 9-digit D-U-N-S Number.
   • Website: Provide your company's public website URL.
   • Headquarters Phone Number: Enter a phone number where Apple can reach your organization for verification.
   • Verification Contact: If you are not the owner/founder with direct legal authority, you'll need to provide contact information for a senior employee who can verify your authority to bind the organization to legal agreements. Apple will likely call this person.
   • Work Email: This should be an email associated with your organization's domain.
8. Review and submit. Carefully review all the information you've entered. If everything is correct, click Submit.

Part 3: Verification and Payment

Apple's verification process

Apple will begin a verification process to confirm your organization's identity and your legal authority. This typically involves them contacting your designated Verification Contact or the Headquarters Phone Number you provided. This processing times vary, so be patient and ensure the contact person is aware they might receive a call from Apple.

Confirmation and payment

Once your enrollment is verified with Apple, they will send a confirmation email to your Apple ID email address. This email contains a link to complete your purchase. Follow these steps to complete payment.

1. Click the link in the email, sign in with your Apple ID, and review the Apple Developer Program License Agreement.
2. Accept the agreement and proceed to the payment screen.
3. Enter your credit card details to pay the annual membership fee. 
   Note: You'll typically have an option for auto-renewal. We recommend auto-renew to avoid your apps being removed from the App Store due to an expired membership.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the payment.

Part 4: Account Activation

After successful payment, you'll receive welcome emails from Apple confirming your membership. You'll now have access to your Organization Apple Developer account, including App Store Connect, where you can manage your apps, users, and certificates.
