The Verification process

FACEIT's ID verification system helps protect the integrity of our platform by confirming that each account belongs to a unique individual. 

Verification is a free, straightforward process that uses industry-leading technology from our partner Daon, to confirm your identity through a selfie and government-issued identification document(ID). 

Once verified, you'll receive a verification badge, visible on the platform both to you and others and may gain access to exclusive competitions and features.

⚠️You may be asked to recheck your identity in the future using a live selfie face capture if our system flags your account for suspicious activity.

Why We Have ID Verification

Verification helps protect the integrity of competition on FACEIT. Its function is to ensure that each account, statistic, and ranking corresponds to a real player competing under their own identity. While verification is not the only method used to limit smurfing, it is a necessary component in maintaining a reliable competitive environment.

By linking an account to an individual user, verification helps:

• Reduce smurfing and multi-account misuse
• Prevent account fraud affecting legitimate players
• Enable access to competitions and features limited to verified users

In some cases, players may be asked to verify their accounts or complete a recheck to continue using certain FACEIT services. This isn’t about exclusion, it’s about protecting the sport from behaviors that undermine it, such as boosting services or account selling.

How Verification Works

FACEIT is partnered with Daon, a proven leader in digital identity verification. For more than two decades, Daon has supported high-security identity checks for global airlines, banks, and hotel groups. Their systems verify hundreds of millions of accounts each day and are independently audited against international security standards.

This partnership ensures that verification on FACEIT is accurate, secure, and held to the same standard used in some of the world’s most trusted industries.

IMPORTANT NOTE BEFORE YOU START

Make sure that the country setting in the verification process - as seen below - is set to the SAME country as the one issuing the document you will be verifying with.

• Your FACEIT country setting has no effect on the setting for the verification process. 
• You must check this DURING the verification process and select accordingly. 
• You can ONLY VERIFY ONE account. Make sure it is YOUR MAIN account.
• Data is not stored by FACEIT, but instead our partner Daon

What do I need to do before verifying?

To begin the verification process, please ensure you have your smartphone and valid physical ID documents such as passport, national ID or drivers license ready. The accepted ID types will be listed in the beginning of the verification process, but you can also find a list here. 

Please note: It is especially important that the lighting is adequate to ensure your passport-style photo can be accurately taken. 

How do I verify myself on FACEIT?

To verify yourself, go to the verification page in your FACEIT account settings. 

In the next stages you will need to provide a live face capture and scan your identification document with your phones camera.

IMPORTANT: 

• Before starting the verification process, ensure you have your identification document ready. 
• The country you select during verification must match the country shown on the ID you provide. 
  • This setting does not sync with your FACEIT account details, so you will need to confirm it manually..

Step 1 - Scan QR Code

Step 2 - Take a selfie photo of yourself in a similar manner as if you were taking a passport photo. 
Please ensure you have:

• Good lighting

• Plain background 

• Remove any caps, hats, glasses you may have 

• Maintain the same neutral facial expression as you have in your ID.

Step 3 - Scan your identification document (only required for Document Capture verification)

Step 4 - Get verified!

Verification Badges

When you successfully complete verification, a badge will appear on your profile:

• White Verification Badge: Issued to all users who complete the verification process. It indicates that the account belongs to a verified player.
• Golden Verification Badge: Assigned to selected professionals, creators, and community figures to help prevent impersonation.

ID Verification Selfie Rechecks

You may be asked to recheck your selfie in the future. Our system may flag accounts for a face recheck if suspicious activity is detected, such as:

• Account selling or sharing
• Using someone else's identity
• Unusual account behavior patterns

If you're flagged for a face recheck:

1. You'll receive a notification when you log in
2. Your verification status will be temporarily revoked until you complete the recheck
3. You'll need to complete a selfie verification to confirm you're the original account holder
4. Once you pass the recheck, your verification will be restored

Face rechecks help ensure the person using the account is the same person who originally verified it.

Is the FACEIT ID Verification system mandatory?

No, the FACEIT ID Verification system is not mandatory. It is a free and optional feature available to all players.

• Verification status may be required to access specific competitions and features on FACEIT. For example, players entering official events such as open qualifiers may be required to verify their accounts before participating.
• For certain suspicious accounts, verification will be mandatory to continue using the FACEIT service. This additional verification layer introduces a higher barrier to entry and is designed to limit malicious activity, including boosting services and black-market account misuse. While this requirement may impact some legitimate users, it is a necessary step to restore and maintain trust within the community.

Can I use someone else's identification documents to verify my account?

No. You may not use another person’s identification documents to verify your account. Submitting documents that do not belong to you violates FACEIT’s policies and may result in account suspension or termination.

How long will it take to verify my account?

The verification process consists of 3–4 steps, depending on the option selected. Once submitted, processing times may vary with request volume but typically range from a few minutes to a few hours. While verification is pending, your account will show an “In-progress” status. Upon successful verification, your account will be fully verified and all associated benefits will be granted.

Can I choose to only do the face capture process and not scan my ID document?

No. Verification can only be completed using an accepted form of ID along with a live photo.

My verification failed, why?

Verification may fail for several reasons. When retrying, ensure the following:

• The country selected during verification matches the country that issued your ID.
• You are over 18, or have parental consent if under 18.
• You are not wearing a hat, cap, or glasses in your selfie.

When scanning or photographing your ID:

• Do not scan through a screen.
• Do not use a photocopy.
• Do not photograph another photograph.
• Ensure your ID is not expired.

Additional requirements:

• Only one account can be verified per individual.
• You must be the person completing verification; multiple people cannot verify a single account.
• Ensure lighting is sufficient for a clear photograph.

If you encounter errors during the verification process, please refer to our  our article with the most common issues that players face. Many of these problems can be resolved independently without contacting support.

Daon's website informed me the process was completed but I am not verified

Confirmation on Daon’s website indicates only that your documents have been received. It does not confirm successful verification; your submission must still be reviewed and processed.

I have tried to verify but it failed and it won't let me retry - what do I do?

During the verification process, your account will show an “In-Progress” status while the check is completed. If a verification attempt fails and the process is temporarily blocked, you can retry after 30 minutes.
