Hi, I’m Emily!
I’m a frontend developer currently on a involuntary sabbatical after mass layoffs near the end of 2024. Feel free to get in touch about opportunities! I mainly have experience in React and TypeScript, but I enjoy branching out into other frameworks and languages when they catch my interest. This site is built using SvelteKit, which I like a lot.
I believe in the power of technology, the internet, and especially the web to connect people and let us share ideas, knowledge, and community across the globe. However, I can’t turn a blind eye to the problems that it has caused either. It’s our responsibility as technologists to think before we act, not “move fast and break things”. Following that logic ended up breaking society, and now it’s everyone’s job to help put it back together.
That said, this is my personal site/blog. I like being a fan of things and people, and that’s not limited to things that are safe for work. There’s probably gonna be a bunch of trans and lesbian shit, is what I’m trying to say #sorrynotsorry.
I’m an alum of the Recurse Center! My batch was virtual in 2021 and I had a great time and learned a lot. I definitely recommend checking it out if you’re tech-inclined and at a career pivot point.
