It's amazing to think this was so long ago. People we regularly interact with now as adults weren't even alive then, and it's impossible to convey this moment in time to them. What a tremendous loss of life it was. What an amazing out-pouring of help there was. How much our country changed in those moments. Over the years, and probably especially when we crested the 10th and 20th anniversaries, the documentaries shown during the 9/11 week have slowed. There are fewer reminders now. If you're seeking quality time spent in front of a screen, seek out some of the documentaries that range from the design and construction of World Trade all the way through the events that brought them down. Share this with the next generation. It won't be the same as having lived through that time, but it's important content for them to see and know. #911 #worldtradecenter #september11th #neverforget

It's virtually impossible to fully comprehend how many moving parts and people it takes to produce goods and services. Have you ever tried to think about or imagine all the jobs out there that people do that you may never see? Most products you see and/or use have components to them. Someone had to make those components. Someone had to then assemble those components, or run the machine that did. Someone had to source the raw materials to make those components. What about the production of the facilities where the entire process is operating within. And while all that is occurring, different people had do all of those same processes to make/build the goods for every other tangent of life. It's simply fascinating to think about. There is an older Tom Cruise movie "Cocktail" where he dreams of being an entrepreneur, and one of his stories refers to the "flugelbinder" which for the movie is the small clear casing that goes around the end of a shoelace (keeps the end together). It's used to make this very same point. While seemingly insignificant, someone had to produce those. When's the last time you've thought about such a small - yet important - part of a product and the labor force who produces it? Take a look around your home, office, or even what's in front of you at this moment. Someone had to make all of those items, the items that make up those items, and all the machines used in the process. That's part of what Labor Day is about.
