Diversity in CS Project Hub
Are you interested in continuing to develop your project beyond the hackathon, and receiving guidance from industry mentors along the way? We’ve got you covered. We’ve partnered with the Diversity in CS Project Hub to offer an opt-in prize for eligible teams who express interest in their Devpost submission!
The Diversity in CS Project Hub is an incubation program that offers workshops, mentorship, and peer support to women students interested in pursuing projects outside of the classroom. It is organized by UBC’s Computer Science Department in partnership with Dr. Christin Wiedemann, Senior Director of Quality Engineering at Slalom. Through this program, selected teams will be connected with industry mentors and receive resources to continue developing their projects over the summer.
If accepted, you can expect the post-hackathon project timeline to look like:
1) Participating in a kick-off event: Early May 2026 at the Slalom Office in Downtown Vancouver
2) Working on the project: May - August 2026
3) Participating in a wrap-up event: Early September 2026
Eligibility criteria:
The program is only available to UBC students, with at least one team member enrolled in UBC Computer Science.
Teams must be underrepresented on the basis of gender, and if not, should identify as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
The majority of your team will need to be available for the whole summer at least 3 months between May 8 and August 31, 2026 to continue working on your project.
Please add the answers to these in your project descriptions:
1. If you satisfy the criteria, please paste the text "My team and I are interested in and qualify for the Diversity in CS Project hub."
2. Why is your team interested in the incubation program and further developing your idea?
3. What are you interested in learning through the Diversity in CS Project Hub?
