🐶 Guapo, our golden retriever office guest this week, delivered exactly the kind of impact every workplace needs, instant calm, sky‑high morale, expert snack detection, and enough cuteness to neutralise even the most stressful IT challenges. Thanks for the good vibes, Guapo, the Silicon office (and the treat cupboard) can’t wait to have you back. 🐾💛 #CultureMatters #PawsitiveVibes #TechLife

👏 Our CEO Liam, shedding some light on leveraging AI with Engineering New Zealand Te Ao Rangahau members last week.
Last week I was a part of Engineering New Zealand Te Ao Rangahau's conference, Thrive 2026 here in Wellington. What an amazing industry - so many talented people and businesses doing incredible things to build and rebuild New Zealand. Hearing about some of the work over the last 3 years to recover from the effects of Cyclone Gabrielle was particularly awe-inspiring. AI of course was a hot topic, and I was honored to speak on a panel to share some insights on how the team at Silicon are leveraging AI to accelerate and automate our business, on our strategy to be AI-powered but human-led and the impact of AI capabilities on cyber security. A great couple of days with a great group of people - thank you Luke, Kavita and the team for having me! #Thrive26 #Cybersecurity

🎉 Celebrating Blair’s 5-Year Anniversary at Silicon 🎉 Today we’re proud to celebrate a significant milestone for Blair as he marks five years with Silicon. Blair plays an essential role in keeping our platforms performing at their best, and we took the chance to ask him a few questions about his work, the past year, and life outside the office. Here’s what he shared: 🧑💻 Role & Day-to-Day As Service Operations Manager, my primary role is to ensure all of Silicon's platforms function correctly. A typical day involves onboarding new tools, mentoring the helpdesk, and contributing to our project teams as an engineering resource. 🏆 Achievement You Are Proud Of Contributing to Silicon’s ISO27001 certification. I only played a small part, but it was a big team effort to get that across the line. 🎉 Favourite Work Moment Not quite a work moment, but the Wellington Free Ambulance golfing fundraiser, was a load of fun. My golf game was nothing to write home about… but it sure beat staring at a monitor all day 😊 ⚽ Personal: Favourite Sports Team Newcastle United. Hoping they can go deep into the Champions League final rounds, but it’s not looking promising. 👶 Personal: Hobbies Outside Work Having recently become a father to a baby girl, she’s now my only hobby. ✈️ Personal: Recent Travel or Dream Destination We visited the south of France on our honeymoon recently. I’ve already picked out the villa I’m going to retire to in Nice on the French Riviera (dreams are free 🙂) . 🎉 Thanks Blair! Blair has played a key role in Silicon's growth and we’re excited to see what the next year holds – hopefully some silverware for the Geordies ! ⚽ #WorkAnniversary #TeamSilicon #LifeAtSilicon #ITLeadership #NZTech

💚 Wellington Free Ambulance - we love being involved and supporting such a great local cause 🤝 With Ian Oliver & Liam O'Keeffe
Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do at Wellington Free Ambulance, and that team extends beyond our organisation into the wider business community. We're grateful to have dedicated local businesses who stand alongside us as ambassadors and advocates. 💚 As a major part of our newly created WFA Business Collective, Silicon Systems Limited is committed to supporting the community they live and work in. They donate monthly through our Support Crew, they're a Hole Sponsor at Golf Day, and they were involved in raising funds during Onesie Appeal last September. Their support reflects a shared belief in caring for others and in the importance of providing emergency care, free of charge to anyone in Greater Wellington and Wairarapa. Silicon’s CEO Liam O’Keeffe adds: “As a proud Wellington company, we have chosen to stand behind Wellington Free Ambulance, an organisation that represents the very best of what it means to care for others. Your team’s dedication to providing free, lifesaving emergency care to anyone in need is something we admire and wholeheartedly support. Supporting your mission also aligns with our core values of service excellence and supporting each other. We’re honoured to play a small part in helping Wellington Free Ambulance continue its incredible work, and we look forward to being part of your journey for years to come.” As well as the fundraising team, Silicon Systems also work closely with the ICT team to provide various services. They supply laptops and desktops via a multi-year agreement and have supplied and installed meeting room and audio-visual equipment at our new Wairarapa Station and offices on Thorndon Quay. They also manage our Microsoft 365 software licensing and provide other general IT equipment. We’re proud to count Silicon among our valued business supporters, working with us to help keep Wellington Free Ambulance services free of charge and accessible for our communities 🚑

For many of us, this weekend coming up was a highlight (lol) with the NZ Sevens in Wellington. Silicon was proud to be the Official IT Partner from 2003 to 2011 🎉🏉 This snap was from our final year attending as a sponsor — and honestly, it might have been our greatest costume effort ever 🤣💡 Were you part of the Sevens madness back then… or maybe even inside one of these outfits? 🤔✨ We’d love to hear your stories! #NZTech #WellingtonNZ #RugbySevens #WellingtonSevens #NZSevens #Throwback #GoodTimes

🌟 Welcome to the team, Jordan Hornblow 🌟 Service Desk Analyst We’re excited to officially welcome Jordon Hornblow to the Silicon whānau as our newest Service Desk Analyst! With five years of IT experience, he was keen to take that next step and we’re stoked he chose to take it with us. 💼 What drew you to join Silicon? The opportunity for growth in my professional development. Silicon offers exposure to a wide range of tools and suites, and being surrounded by that environment felt like the perfect place to learn, level up, and challenge myself. 🚀 What part of your new role are you most excited about? I’m excited for the moment when I’m fully comfortable with the day‑to‑day tasks so I can branch out, take on extra challenges, and pick up some “side‑quest” work. ☕ Go‑to coffee order? Mocha! I was a barista for five years, so I prefer to make my own — habits die hard. 🧸 Lego Marvel Character? I picked Indiana Jones — mostly for the nostalgia. It reminds me of hanging out with my brother when we were younger. 🎨 A hobby or interest outside of work? SIM racing and hitting the gym. 🌿 Ideal weekend activity? Anything that keeps me busy — ideally catching up with friends. 🎉 A fun fact most people don’t know? I held a world record on the Pikes Peak Time Trial for a few months. 🦸 If Silicon gave you a work‑superpower, what would it be? ~Instant bug diagnosis ~Perfect memory for technical details 💬 Best piece of advice you’ve ever received? “Measure twice, cut once.” Please join us in giving Jordon a warm Silicon welcome we can’t wait to see the impact he makes! 👏🙌
