{Solidity}
Solidity is evolving rapidly
We aim for a regular (non-breaking) release every month, with approximately one breaking release per year. You can follow the implementation status of new features in the Solidity GitHub project.
Contribute to Solidity
Solidity continues to improve with help from our global community. Check out these ways to get involved and contribute to the Solidity project.
Reporting issues and vulnerabilities
To report an issue, please use the GitHub issues tracker. To report a vulnerability, please check out the instructions in the SECURITY.md.
Translating the documentation
Translations help developers from all corners of the world to be able to read the documentation and learn Solidity.
Fixing and responding to issues
Fixing and responding to issues, especially those tagged as “good first issue”, is a great way to get started for external contributors.
Contributing to language design
We welcome Solidity power users, auditors, security experts and tooling developers to get involved in the Solidity language design process. Join the Solidity forum, where existing properties of the language and proposals for new language features can be discussed.
Stay Updated
Stay always up-to-date by following the Solidity blog.
You can see the upcoming changes for the next breaking release by switching from the default branch (develop) to the breaking branch. You can actively shape Solidity by providing your input and participating in the language design in the Solidity forumand participating in the yearly Solidity developer surveys.

Yul Optimizer Knowledge Base Stale Bookkeeping Bug
Posted by Solidity Team on October 22, 2026
On August 17, 2026, Daniel Boye reported a bug in the Yul optimizer through the Ethereum Foundation's bug bounty program. Because of the bug, the optimizer can consider two memory or storage locations distinct even though they coincide at runtime. As a result, a load can be replaced with an outdated value, or a store that is needed can be removed. A second report by Surya Prakash Akula, received on September 28, 2026, showed that the bug can be triggered from plain Solidity...

Posted by Solidity Team on October 22, 2026
Solidity v0.8.38 is out. This release fixes a low-severity bug in the Yul optimizer. The release also improves the performance of the DataFlowAnalyzer, which several Yul optimizer steps are built on. As a result, compilation with the Yul optimizer enabled is faster. In the IR pipeline, the function dispatcher now uses one fewer instruction to check that the calldata is long enough to hold a function selector. The compiler now warns when swapn, dupn or exchange is used as an identifier in Yul or inline...
Read moreThe State of Core Solidity
Posted by Solidity Team on October 14, 2026
Core Solidity is a new frontend for solc. It gives the language a new type system with algebraic data types, pattern matching, generics, traits and compile-time evaluation, and it moves much of what is built into the compiler today into a standard library written in the language itself. The backend stays the same: Core Solidity compiles down to Yul, and from Yul onwards the bytecode is produced by the optimizer and code generator that solc already uses for Classic Solidity, the language...
