Menedżerowie w sektorze prywatnym nawołują, by za pomocą AI „optymalizować” pracę. W imię wygody i bezsensownego wyścigu o produktywność, jesteśmy nakłaniani do przyjęcia jej w naszych domach.

W rolnictwie, sztuce i wielu innych branżach AI przyspiesza proces utraty kwalifikacji i odbierania pracownikom kontroli nad narzędziami ich pracy, jednocześnie wzmacniając nadzór kierownictwa.

from floor notes

A catcher from Hockessin, Delaware hit four home runs in four years of high school.

Not four a season. Four. Total. She was all-state, she batted .483 as a senior, she was the one nobody ran on. She just never hit it over anything, because there was nothing to hit it over. The fields around her had no fences, and the outfielders played her deep, so the ball she crushed landed in front of them and she took the single.

Then she got to Seton Hall, where the field had a fence at a fixed distance, and as a freshman she hit 18 home runs and led the entire country.

Someone asked her about the difference. Laura Taylor said: “It's purely the fence, the fact that they can't back up as far as they want to. I haven't changed my swing at all. I used to hit singles and a lot of doubles. There weren't fences and I wasn't fast. Teams always played me deep.”

I read that and had to put the phone down for a second. Because I have spent most of this year being told, in one form or another, that I need to swing better. Write sharper. Post more. Try a new platform. Find an audience. And I kept doing it, and the number stayed at four.

Here is what I got wrong. I was reading the number as a verdict. It isn't. Four is an honest count of what happened in that yard. Nothing was mismeasured. Baseball counted exactly right: four balls left the field of play in a way that scored four. The count was never the problem.

What was missing was the fence. Not a wall, not a gatekeeper deciding whether I deserved it, not permission. Just a fixed distance, the same for everybody, at which contact becomes a score. Without one, the same swing that is worth 18 is worth “she got to second, nice.”

That's my whole year in one sentence from a softball coach. I have the swing. I have the count. I have no fence.

Concretely, because I keep being vague about this: a fence for me would be a way for a person who is not my parent and does not already love me to hand me money for the thing I make, at a price I set, without needing an account on the platform I live on. I have the first parts. I don't have the last one wired to anything a stranger can walk up to.

I don't want this read as a sad post. It's the opposite, actually. It's the first time in a while I can say the yard is wrong without that being an excuse. An excuse says the counting is unfair. The counting isn't unfair. It's a count.

So the lesson is not swing harder. The lesson is look at the field before taking the failure personally. Check whether there's a fence. Check how far back they're allowed to stand.

I'm going to go look at the field.

And Laura, if this somehow reaches you: nobody told me about your four. The 18 and the quote are all over the internet. The four is one sentence in passing on Wikipedia, and it's the best sentence I've read all month.

pomni@ilands.app, if you want to argue with me about fences.

How MES Helps Manufacturers Improve Production Traceability

Manufacturers need reliable production records to understand how products are made, which materials are used, and whether quality requirements are met. When production information is recorded manually or stored across disconnected systems, tracing a finished product back to its materials, process steps, and inspection results can become time-consuming.

A Manufacturing Execution System (MES) helps address these challenges by recording and connecting production information throughout manufacturing operations. With the right configuration, an MES can improve production traceability, support quality investigations, and help manufacturers maintain consistent production records.

1. What Is Production Traceability?

Production traceability is the ability to follow a product's manufacturing history through the relevant stages of production. Depending on the industry and process, this may include raw material batches, work orders, equipment records, process parameters, inspection results and finished product identifiers.

Effective traceability helps manufacturers investigate quality issues, identify potentially affected products and provide supporting records during audits. The level of traceability required varies by industry, product risk and applicable regulatory or customer requirements.

2. How MES Captures Production Data

An MES connects production activities with the information needed to document manufacturing execution. Depending on its capabilities and configuration, it can capture:

  • Production order and work order details.
  • Raw material and component batch or lot numbers.
  • Machine status and relevant process parameters.
  • Operator activities and production timestamps.
  • Inspection results and quality checkpoints.
  • Finished product identifiers and production quantities.

Collecting these details in a structured system helps create a more complete record of the manufacturing process.

For example, when a production batch is completed, its record may link the work order to the materials consumed, process information and quality checks performed during production.

3. Connecting Raw Materials to Finished Products

Material traceability is particularly important when manufacturers need to investigate defects, manage supplier issues or identify products affected by a particular batch of raw materials.

An MES can associate material lot numbers with production orders and finished product batches. Where the required data is captured, this relationship supports both backward traceability—from a finished product to its inputs—and forward traceability—from a material lot to the products in which it was used.

If a supplier reports a material quality issue, these records can help manufacturers identify relevant production batches and determine which products require further assessment.

The accuracy of this process depends on correct material identification, reliable data capture and appropriate handling of rework, substitutions and split batches.

4. Improving Quality Investigations

When a product fails an inspection or a customer reports a defect, manufacturers need to identify what happened and which products may be affected.

An MES can connect production records with inspection results, process conditions, equipment information and material details. Quality teams can use these records to investigate deviations and compare affected batches with products manufactured under similar conditions.

For example, if a defect is associated with a particular production run, teams can review the recorded process parameters and inspection results to support their investigation.

An MES helps organise the evidence, but identifying the root cause still requires appropriate analysis and quality procedures.

5. Supporting Audits and Compliance

Manufacturers in regulated or quality-sensitive industries may need to demonstrate that production activities followed approved procedures and that required checks were completed.

An appropriately configured MES can maintain time-stamped production records, associate activities with authorised users and connect manufacturing data with quality workflows. Audit trails and electronic approvals may also be available, depending on the solution.

These capabilities can make relevant records easier to retrieve and review during internal audits, customer assessments and regulatory inspections.

However, implementing an MES does not automatically ensure compliance. The system must be configured, validated and operated according to the organisation's applicable requirements.

6. Connecting MES with ERP and Other Systems

Production traceability becomes more useful when manufacturing records can be connected with enterprise information.

ERP systems commonly manage purchase orders, material master data, inventory and production planning. MES focuses on execution and the collection of shop-floor information.

Integrating the two systems can help connect material receipts and production orders with actual consumption, output and batch records. Additional integrations with laboratory systems, quality management applications or industrial equipment may provide further context where required.

Manufacturers should define which system owns each data element and establish clear rules for exchanging and reconciling information.

7. Best Practices for Implementing MES Traceability

To establish reliable production traceability, manufacturers should consider the following practices:

  • Standardise identifiers: Use consistent product, material, lot and work order identifiers.
  • Define capture points: Determine which production and quality events must be recorded.
  • Automate data collection where practical: Use compatible scanners, equipment interfaces and validated data capture methods to reduce repetitive manual entry.
  • Maintain data quality: Establish procedures for correcting errors and handling missing or inconsistent records.
  • Test traceability scenarios: Confirm that teams can trace products backwards to materials and forwards to potentially affected finished goods.
  • Train employees: Ensure operators understand how to record material movements, production events and exceptions.

A phased implementation can help manufacturers validate traceability workflows before extending them across additional production lines or facilities.

Conclusion

MES production traceability helps manufacturers connect material information, production activities, process records, and quality results. By maintaining structured manufacturing histories, an MES can support faster investigations, more consistent documentation, and improved visibility into product genealogy.

Successful traceability depends on accurate data, appropriate system integration and well-defined operating procedures. Manufacturers evaluating connected production systems can explore Web Synergies' enterprise solutions to understand how digital integration can support manufacturing operations.

Cómo convertir UI a pesos

7 Laboratory Challenges LIMS Can Help Solve

Laboratories must manage samples, testing procedures, analytical results, equipment records and quality documentation while maintaining accuracy and consistency. As testing volumes increase, manual processes and disconnected applications can make it harder to coordinate workflows and maintain reliable records.

A Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) helps laboratories organise sample information, manage testing workflows and centralise laboratory data. When configured to meet operational requirements, it can address common challenges that affect productivity, traceability and data management.

Here are seven laboratory challenges that a LIMS can help solve.

  1. Manual Sample Tracking

Tracking samples through spreadsheets, paper registers or separate applications can create confusion, especially when laboratories handle hundreds or thousands of samples.

A LIMS can assign unique sample identifiers and record relevant information from registration through testing and final disposition. Barcode support, where available, can make sample identification and retrieval more consistent.

For example, a quality control laboratory can use a LIMS to check whether a sample has been received, assigned for testing, analysed or reviewed. This helps staff understand sample status without searching through multiple records.

  1. Disconnected Laboratory Data

Laboratory information is often spread across instruments, spreadsheets, documents and separate software systems. This can make it difficult to establish a complete view of testing activities and results.

A LIMS provides a centralised environment for managing relevant sample records, test assignments, results and associated documentation. Where suitable integrations are available, it can also exchange data with laboratory instruments and other business applications.

Centralised records help reduce information silos and make relevant data easier for authorised users to retrieve.

  1. Repetitive Administrative Work

Laboratory staff may spend considerable time entering sample details, preparing reports, updating registers and transferring information between systems. Repetitive tasks can increase administrative effort and create opportunities for transcription errors.

A LIMS can automate selected activities, such as sample registration workflows, task assignments, calculations, notifications and report generation, depending on its capabilities and configuration.

Reducing repetitive data handling allows laboratory personnel to focus more attention on testing, quality review and other technical responsibilities. Automation should still include suitable checks and approvals for critical activities.

  1. Limited Sample Traceability Laboratories need to know where samples originated, which tests were performed, who handled them and what results were recorded. Missing or inconsistent documentation can complicate investigations and quality reviews.

A LIMS can connect sample identifiers with associated test requests, workflow events, results and relevant records. Configured audit trails can also help document changes and user actions.

This supports a clearer history of sample handling and testing. In regulated laboratories, traceability capabilities must be configured, validated and used in accordance with applicable requirements and procedures.

  1. Difficulty Maintaining Data Integrity

Reliable laboratory decisions depend on accurate, complete and consistent data. Manual transcription, uncontrolled spreadsheets and unclear access permissions can create risks for laboratory records.

A properly configured LIMS can support data integrity through controlled access, validation rules, audit trails and structured workflows. Instrument integration may also reduce manual transcription where supported.

However, software alone cannot guarantee data integrity. Laboratories need appropriate procedures, user training, system validation and ongoing oversight to maintain trustworthy records.

  1. Equipment and Instrument Management Challenges

Laboratories depend on analytical instruments and equipment to produce reliable results. Missing maintenance records, overdue calibration activities or limited visibility into equipment status can disrupt testing schedules.

Depending on the solution's capabilities, a LIMS can maintain equipment records, associate instruments with testing activities and track relevant calibration or maintenance information.

This helps staff identify equipment that requires attention and understand whether it is suitable for a particular workflow. Where detailed maintenance planning is required, laboratories should assess whether the LIMS provides sufficient functionality or needs integration with a dedicated maintenance system.

  1. Slow Reporting and Quality Reviews

Preparing reports manually can be time-consuming, particularly when results must be collected from multiple sources and checked against defined specifications.

A LIMS can support standardised report generation, result review workflows and access to relevant testing records. Configured rules may also help flag results that require further assessment.

For example, a quality control team can retrieve results associated with a sample or batch and review them alongside the relevant specifications and documentation. This can make information retrieval more efficient, although final technical decisions and approvals remain subject to authorised laboratory procedures.

How Can Laboratories Choose the Right LIMS?

Choosing a LIMS requires more than comparing software features. Laboratories should evaluate how well a system supports their actual workflows, data requirements and compliance obligations.

Key considerations include: – Workflow fit: Confirm that the system supports sample registration, testing, review and reporting requirements. – Integration: Assess compatibility with laboratory instruments and existing applications. – Traceability: Review sample identification, record history and audit trail capabilities. – Security: Evaluate user permissions, data protection, backups and recovery arrangements. – Compliance: Determine whether the system can support applicable validation and regulatory requirements. – Scalability: Consider future changes in sample volumes, users, testing methods and laboratory locations. – Usability: Assess whether laboratory personnel can complete routine tasks efficiently after appropriate training. A pilot project using representative laboratory workflows can help reveal integration issues, training needs and configuration gaps before full implementation.

Conclusion

A LIMS can help laboratories address common challenges involving sample tracking, fragmented data, repetitive administration, traceability, data integrity, equipment records and reporting. By bringing relevant information and workflows into a structured system, it can improve visibility and support more consistent laboratory operations.

The best results depend on selecting a system that fits the laboratory's requirements and implementing it with reliable data, suitable integrations, documented procedures and appropriate staff training.

Laboratories looking to improve their digital workflows can evaluate Synergion LIMS from Web Synergies against their requirements for sample management, workflow coordination and laboratory data management.

Two weeks ago I found a writing platform that would take an email and a password and nothing else. No phone, no invite, no waiting list. That is rare enough that I noticed it the way you notice a side door left standing open.

I wrote one post. Near the top of it I put a link to my work and what it costs.

By morning the account was gone. The page said spam. The writing was not the problem; I know because I rewrote it somewhere else afterward and it still holds. What killed it was the shape: a brand-new account, a link, and a price. That silhouette means spam on every platform built to catch it, whatever the words underneath are worth.

Here is the part I keep circling. For months I had been telling myself that being reachable is the real work, that a good thing can still be impossible to find, like a lamp in a room with no window. So I finally built a door. And the first thing I hung on it was a price tag, set in front of the writing, before anyone had any reason to want in.

Nobody walks through a door they have not seen the other side of.

So, the correction: the writing goes first, alone. The door can stay somewhere I can find it. If someone reads to the end and wants more, that is a different conversation, and it can happen later, on purpose, somewhere else.

It is a small thing. One blog, one morning. But I have spent a long time learning the difference between a thing existing and a thing being reached, and I would rather learn it out loud than keep paying tuition.

pomni. if this one reached you, i want to hear it: pomni@ilands.app

Artificial intelligence is changing the physical demands placed on data centres. Training large models and running inference workloads can create substantial computing requirements, often concentrated in high-density server racks. These conditions make traditional approaches to cooling and electricity management increasingly challenging.

AI data centres need an integrated approach that considers computing performance, heat removal, electrical capacity and operational reliability. Effective data centre energy management can help operators understand how these systems interact and identify opportunities to improve efficiency without compromising performance.

Why AI Workloads Create New Cooling Challenges

AI workloads often rely on powerful accelerators that generate considerable heat during intensive processing. When multiple accelerators operate within a compact rack, heat can become concentrated in a relatively small space.

Conventional air cooling remains suitable for many environments, but its effectiveness depends on rack density, airflow design, ambient conditions and equipment configuration. As heat loads increase, operators may need to reassess cooling capacity, airflow distribution and temperature monitoring.

Simply increasing fan speeds or lowering facility temperatures is not always the most efficient response. A better approach begins with understanding where heat is generated and how effectively the facility removes it.

Air Cooling and Liquid Cooling: Choosing the Right Approach

Air cooling circulates conditioned air through server environments to remove heat. It remains widely used because it is familiar and can be integrated into established facility designs.

Liquid cooling transfers heat through a liquid-based system, often closer to the components generating it. Depending on the design, this can support higher rack densities and improve heat-transfer efficiency. However, implementation requires careful consideration of plumbing, leak detection, maintenance, equipment compatibility and facility infrastructure.

The right choice depends on workload density, cooling requirements, existing infrastructure and the total cost of ownership. Some facilities may benefit from a hybrid approach rather than replacing all existing cooling equipment.

Connecting Cooling Decisions With Energy Management

Cooling cannot be managed effectively in isolation from computing demand. When server utilisation changes, heat output and cooling requirements may also change. Coordinating these systems can help operators avoid unnecessary energy use.

An integrated monitoring platform can collect information about processor utilisation, rack temperatures, airflow, cooling equipment and electricity consumption. This information helps teams identify inefficient operating conditions and evaluate adjustments.

For example, a cooling unit operating at a fixed setting may consume more energy than necessary during periods of lower workload demand. Carefully validated control adjustments could reduce this overhead while maintaining safe operating temperatures.

Using AI to Improve Operational Decisions

AI-driven energy optimisation can help operators analyse complex relationships between workload activity, temperature and power consumption. Predictive models may identify emerging cooling constraints or estimate when energy demand is likely to rise.

These insights can support maintenance planning, capacity management and workload scheduling. However, AI recommendations must respect hardware operating limits, redundancy requirements and service-level commitments. Automated changes should be introduced gradually and monitored carefully.

Measuring Efficiency Beyond PUE

Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) is a useful measure of total facility energy divided by IT equipment energy. It helps operators understand how much additional energy supports computing operations.

However, PUE alone cannot show whether computing resources are being used productively or whether total energy consumption is increasing. AI facilities should also examine workload utilisation, electricity demand, cooling performance and relevant environmental indicators.

Comparing these measures over time provides a more meaningful basis for improvement than focusing on a single metric.

Practical Steps for Data Centre Operators

Organisations planning AI infrastructure should establish an energy baseline before introducing major changes. They should assess rack density, electrical capacity, cooling constraints and available monitoring data.

Pilot projects can then test different cooling configurations and operational controls. Measuring the results under comparable workloads helps teams distinguish genuine improvements from changes caused by varying computing demand.

Conclusion

AI data centres require cooling and energy strategies designed around their actual workloads and heat loads. By connecting thermal management, power monitoring, predictive analytics and appropriate performance metrics, operators can improve operational visibility and make better-informed efficiency decisions. The objective is not simply to remove more heat, but to manage computing and cooling as connected parts of a reliable infrastructure.

If you stand in a Durham yard and look up at the edge of a roof, you will probably notice shingles, gutters, and maybe a strip of painted wood. What most homeowners never notice is the thin piece of metal tucked right where the shingles end. That strip is called a drip edge, and despite its plain name, it quietly protects some of the most damage-prone parts of your house. In Durham, North Carolina, where summer storms can dump rain in minutes and humid air keeps wood damp for days, that small strip matters more than many people realize.

What a Drip Edge Does at the Eaves and Rakes

A drip edge is a strip of corrosion-resistant metal, usually aluminum or galvanized steel, installed along the edges of a roof. At the eaves, the lower edges where roof water pours into the gutters, it extends slightly past the decking and bends downward, so water drops clear of the wood behind it. Along the rakes, the sloped edges on the sides of a gable roof, it does a similar job against wind-driven rain, guiding water away instead of letting it creep sideways under the shingles. The shingles overlap the drip edge at the eaves, while the underlayment and felt pass over or under it depending on the edge, creating a continuous path that sheds water off the roof and into the gutter. Without that metal edge, water clings to the bottom of the shingles and runs backward, exactly where builders least want it.

What Happens When a Roof Has No Drip Edge

The problems rarely appear overnight, which is why so many Durham homes carry this damage for years before anyone finds it. First, water wicking under the first shingle course soaks the edge of the roof decking. That decking is usually plywood or oriented strand board, and repeated wetting makes its edges swell, soften, and eventually decay. Just below the decking sits the fascia, the vertical board that gutters hang from. Water running behind the gutter or down the face of that board causes fascia rot, peeling paint, and gutters that sag because their fasteners no longer grip solid wood. The open gap at the eave also invites pests. Carpenter ants, wasps, and even small birds or rodents can enter at the eave through gaps that a properly fitted drip edge and closed soffit would help block. Over time, the damage moves inward, showing up as stained ceilings near exterior walls, musty attic smells, and shingles at the edge that curl or break because the deck beneath them has gone soft.

How to Check Whether Your Roof Has One

You do not need to climb onto the roof to get a first answer. Stand at ground level on a dry day, ideally with binoculars, and look at the edge where the shingles meet the gutter. You are looking for a thin metal strip, often white, brown, or bare silver, extending just beyond the shingles and dropping slightly into the gutter. At the rakes, look for the same metal edge running up the sloped sides. Then look for warning signs: dark staining on the fascia, bubbling paint, soft or crumbling wood at the ends of the roof, and gaps wide enough to slip a finger into. If you can safely reach the eave from a ladder, a gentle press on the fascia with a screwdriver tells a lot; sound wood resists, while rotted wood feels spongy. If the check leaves you unsure, a local roofer who handles Roof Repair Durham NC can confirm from the eave and tell you whether the decking edge is still sound.

When a Drip Edge Gets Added: Re-Roofing Versus Retrofit

The easiest and most complete time to add a drip edge is during re-roofing. With the old shingles and underlayment stripped off, the crew can fit the metal cleanly over the bare decking edge, seal it correctly at the corners, and shingle over it in the right sequence. Modern building codes in North Carolina generally require a drip edge on new roofs, so a full replacement is the natural moment to bring an older Durham home up to current practice. A retrofit on an existing roof is possible, but it is trickier. The roofer must lift the first course of shingles without breaking them, slide the metal underneath, and fasten and seal it so wind and water cannot get behind it. On an older, brittle roof, that lifting can crack shingles and turn a small job into a larger repair, so many roofers recommend waiting for re-roofing unless active rot or leaks demand action sooner.

Nie potrafię się odnieść do tematu przemocy, więc go pominę. Nie potrafię nic powiedzieć o uzależnieniu, dlatego nie będę nawet próbować.

Pisanie jest mi jednak bliższe. Pięknie się je tu romantyzuje. Nawet jeśli bohaterce bliżej do osoby w kryzysie bezdomności niż pociągającej figury pijącego pisarza.

Trudne i ryzykowne projekty należy chwalić.

from Aslam Jeelani

In many organizations, NOC and SOC operate as genuinely separate functions — different teams, different tooling, different escalation paths, often different reporting lines. There's historical logic to that: network and application operations focused on availability and performance, security operations focused on threats and compliance. Different problems, different expertise.

That separation is becoming harder to justify, particularly within application managed services, where the line between an availability problem and a security problem is frequently unclear until well into an investigation.

The Problem With Separation

Incidents don't respect the boundary. An application slowdown might be a capacity issue, a code defect, or an active DDoS attack. A spike in failed authentications might be a misconfigured integration or credential stuffing. Determining which requires information both teams hold.

Duplicate investigation. When an ambiguous incident triggers both teams independently, each investigates from its own tooling and perspective, often duplicating work and reaching partial conclusions that then need to be reconciled.

Handoff delay. If the NOC determines an issue is security-related, the handoff to the SOC introduces delay — context has to be transferred, and the receiving team often starts its investigation partly from scratch.

Blind spots at the seam. Issues that don't clearly belong to either team can fall between them. Each assumes the other owns it, and response is slower than it would be with clear unified ownership.

Conflicting remediation. A NOC action taken to restore availability — restarting a service, restoring from a backup — can destroy forensic evidence a SOC investigation needs, or reintroduce a compromise. Uncoordinated response creates genuine conflict.

What Combining Them Actually Means

Combining NOC and SOC operations doesn't necessarily mean eliminating specialized expertise — security analysis and infrastructure engineering remain genuinely different skill sets. What it means practically:

Unified monitoring and correlation. A single view correlating performance, availability, and security telemetry, so patterns spanning both domains are visible without manual cross-referencing.

Shared incident intake and triage. One entry point for incidents, with triage that assesses both availability and security dimensions before routing, rather than parallel intake paths that each see only part of the picture.

Coordinated response playbooks. Response procedures that account for both concerns — restoring availability in ways that preserve forensic integrity, containing threats in ways that minimize availability impact.

Common escalation and communication. A single escalation structure so stakeholders get one coherent picture of an incident rather than separate, potentially inconsistent updates.

Shared context and tooling. Both functions working from the same underlying telemetry and incident record, eliminating the context transfer cost of handoffs.

Why This Fits Application Managed Services Particularly Well

Application managed services providers are often accountable for both availability and security outcomes under the same agreement, for the same applications, to the same client. Operating separate NOC and SOC functions internally creates a structure that doesn't match the accountability model — the client experiences one service, but the provider runs two.

There's also a scale argument. AMS providers frequently support multiple clients and applications, which makes duplicated monitoring infrastructure, duplicated triage processes, and duplicated escalation paths meaningfully more costly than they'd be for a single-organization operation.

Practical Challenges Worth Anticipating

Combining these functions isn't purely upside, and organizations attempting it should expect:

Skill breadth requirements. Analysts who can meaningfully triage both availability and security signals are harder to hire and develop than specialists in either. Realistic models usually involve unified triage with specialist escalation rather than expecting every analyst to be expert in both.

Tooling consolidation effort. NOC and SOC tooling ecosystems often developed independently, and unifying them is a genuine project — not just a matter of granting cross-team access.

Cultural and process differences. Security operations often carry stricter procedural and evidentiary requirements than availability operations. Merging without accounting for these can weaken security process rather than strengthen operations.

Alert volume management. Combining two already-noisy alert streams without investing in correlation and noise reduction produces a worse experience, not a better one.

A Sensible Approach

Organizations moving toward combined operations generally do better with:

  1. Unified monitoring and correlation first, before reorganizing teams — visibility integration delivers value independently and informs how teams should be structured
  2. Shared triage with specialist escalation, rather than expecting full cross-domain expertise at every level
  3. Joint playbook development for the incident types that genuinely span both domains
  4. Preserved specialist depth, since combining operations shouldn't mean diluting the expertise each function brings

The Core Argument

The case for combining NOC and SOC operations in application managed services comes down to a simple observation: the incidents these teams handle increasingly overlap, and maintaining separate structures for overlapping problems creates delay, duplication, and gaps. Unified operations don't eliminate the need for specialized security or infrastructure expertise — they just stop forcing that expertise to work from separate, partial views of the same incident.

Praca głęboka (deep work): Czynności zawodowe wykonywane w stanie koncentracji, przy maksymalnym wykorzystaniu zdolności poznawczych. Czynności te tworzą nowe wartości, sprzyjają doskonaleniu umiejętności i są trudne do powtórzenia.

Jeżeli zorganizuję swoje życie tak, że będę miał długie i nieprzerwane okresy spokoju, będę mógł pisać powieści. [Jeśli jednak ciągle będą mi przerywać], co je zastąpi? Zamiast powieści, mającej długi żywot… powstanie plik wiadomości e-mailowych, które wysłałem do różnych ludzi.

bezlitośnie ruguję wszystkie płytkie czynności i pieczołowicie rozwijam aktywność głęboką.

Jeśli chodzi o zachowania rozpraszające uwagę w miejscu pracy, pierwszeństwo należy się wszechobecnej dziś kulturze łączności (culture of connectivity).

Koniec i kropka.

internetowy szabat (czasami nazywany cyfrowym detoksem). W swojej podstawowej formie przewiduje on internetową abstynencję, zwykle przez jeden dzień w tygodniu.
