Theme Switcher (more coming soon)

This place is a website... and part of a system of websites... pay attention to it!

Assembled (with love [and care {speculatively}]) by Troy, a Baltimore-based musician, software engineer, and loading.... You can reach him via email if you'd like. If you're looking for his resume, you can find that here.

Thoughts (no prayers)
  1. Trying out Sveltia CMS for the first time. Hope I didn't break anything!

  2. The year is 2024 and I just burned a CD in Windows Media Player.

  3. I made a goal earlier this year to visit all the state parks in Maryland (an easy choice since I live there). It's not a this-year type of goal, but more of an eventually goal. Last weekend I visited my fourth of the year, Gambrill State Park: https://stateparks.troyv.dev/md/gambrill-state-park/. It was the most difficult trail so far, but beautiful.

  4. Nickelback is fine, actually! I listened to every one of their albums these last few weeks and even listened to a couple of them on repeat. This is more than I can say for some bands I try this experiment with. Check out my full write up at https://www.thisisa.band/nickelback/.

  5. I'm two albums into my listening-to-every-Nickelback-album journey. It's a long road ahead of me, but I left that first album thinking "yeah, all our first albums sounded like that."

  6. I got too excited making a CLI for writing new notes on my site and accidentally left the date of the post in the content. Oops!

  7. 2024-05-23 Heard this song the other day and liked it so much I had to make a playlist dedicated to more songs just like it. https://album.link/i/1584988431

Articles (all prayers)
  1. Send Honks With Gonk

The title speaks for itself, doesn't it?

  2. Song Lyrics

Do I hear them? Yes. Do I listen to them? Not really.

  3. Webmentions Web Component

I got overwhelmed by build steps and decided to fetch my webmentions through a web component.

  4. Physical Media

A collection of thoughts on why I miss physical media.

  5. TroyGPT

Music (I make it)

I am (or was) in a few bands.

  • troyalllowercase: My solo project where I do whatever I want. It's got punk, it's got emo, it's sometimes instrumental. Support me on Bandcamp, or find me on your streaming service of choice (fuck Spotify).
  • Bardic Compass: A prog rock band for people who love DnD. We have a Bandcamp.
  • Front Royal: A punk/alternative/indie/punkternatindie band I was in. If that sounds like your thing, check it out on Bandcamp or your favorite streaming service or visit the website.

You can even listen to my music on this very website if you wanted to. Just don't steal it from me, you hooligan. This relationship works on trust.

Want to know what I'm listening to? That's fine. Look at this widget:

Want to see my music collection? Or my scrobble history?

Code (I write some)

Yeah yeah yeah, I have a GitHub profile, but you really should look at my sourcehut account for git and mercurial repositories.

I've published some packages to npm. These are the ones I haven't deprecated.
