Inspiration

We know when we work on ppt or any other projects the most frustrating thing is to remove the background. Go to another website or software add the photo and get back to the previous tab which is frustrating. Isn't there a 😡 convenient way? So here comes out Phantom Crop which is an extension you can select photo and it will remove the background without reducing the quality.

What it does

Basically you just upload your picture and it will remove the background without any hassle

How we built it

I am travelling right now while I am writing this post. No laptop with me I told my friend to open his laptop and download kiro. I just said use manifest in frontend and in the backend use rembg library and connect them with a spooky theme👻 and give the prompt to kiro. And just like that while being away from my laptop we built the phantom crop. Basically vibe coding🤞🏻🤞🏻 with a pure purpose. I was surprised that kiro even tests its own code when it's already generating the code. Testing its own development and proceed at every step. Which made me believe it is the right choice to use kiro. We deployed the frontend in github and backend in railway.

Challenges we ran into

Basically we couldn't host the extension because to deploy it in as extension we need to pay😭😭. So we also made a react vite frontend deployed so that you can test it connected with the same server that uses the extension.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have a goal and we achieved it without being close to the laptop.

What we learned

East or west kiro is the best. My friend literally leaned how the total system works by reading the chat with kiro. When the deadline is near it makes it easier. Also the extension is a whole new department as it is also my first time to develop a extension and it runs so smoothly 😭😭.
