RS232 – MAX232 Interface Module

Summary of RS232 – MAX232 Interface Module

This project is an RS232 Interface Board using the MAX232 IC to convert microcontroller signals for PC serial communication. It shifts voltage levels between 5V and 12V, enabling easy data transmission via a 9-pin female D-sub connector for the serial port. The board is powered by 5V DC from the host interface and features simple headers for connection. The compact PCB includes four mounting holes and supports RXD and TXD data lines for reliable serial communication.

Parts used in the RS232 Interface Board:

  • MAX232 level shifter IC
  • 9-pin female D-sub connector
  • Relimate/Header connector for host interface
  • PCB (40 mm x 33 mm) with 3.2 mm mounting holes
  • Power supply lines (5V DC @ 50mA)

This project is a RS232 Interface Board based on MAX232 IC.

Description

This project  provides you a simple and easy solution to connect / convert your Microcontroller input/output to be connected to the serial port of the Computer.

This projects build around  popular  MAX232 level shifter IC to do the Level Shifting (Voltage) between 5 V and 12 V DC.

RS232-–-MAX232-Interface-Module

An Onboard 9 pin female “D” connects this PCB to the Serial Port cable (not supplied with the Kit). Connector J1 connects to the Host for power supply and serial In/Out signals.

A – Provides data from the Computer to the Host (RXD)
B – Provides data to be sent to the Computer from the Host (TXD)
